JN Updates |
As we posted yesterday, the Neopets Metaverse launched on the 12th at 1:00 AM NST. As of writing (5:45 PM NST), 3,997 of the 10,000 available NFTs for sale have sold.
Since yesterday at 5:45 PM NST...
+ 109 NFTs
The Neopets Metaverse team's cryptowallet currently has a balance of 8,117.5 SOL, which is worth roughly $1,934,000 USD at time of writing.
As we reported earlier
, the sale price of each NFT increases
as more of them sell. The first 250 NFTs sold, for example, were available for 1 SOL (~$238 USD), and the 9,751st through 10,000th NFTs that sell will sell for 4 SOL (~$952 USD). With 3,997 sold so far, the price is still stuck at 2.5 SOL (~$595) per NFT.
The sale period only lasts until November 15th at 1:00 AM NST (for a total of 3 days). Currently, it is not expected for all 10,000 NFTs to sell out. The remaining stock will be "burned" and simply not made available to the public.
Stay tuned to Jellyneo—we'll keep you updated as the sale progresses and what the final numbers look like on Day 3. Alternatively, if you want to keep up with the more unsavoury aspects of the Neopets Metaverse, check us out on Twitter @jellyneo
, where we post even more (in an effort to keep the frontpage of JN a little less depressing).
With only 31 hours of sales left, how many more NFTs do you think will be sold? Let us know in the comments!

At this rate, I'll be surprised if they break 2500.
They already broke 2.5k. They're now over 4k. Though with them having only sold just over 100 additional NFTs since yesterday, it's looking like they not only hit their "peak" (though not that most of those sales were from bots...) but now at the falling slope. I think anyone who was actually interested in Neopets NFTs have likely bought one and with the bots and low initial sales may have made anyone who was able to purchase more hesitant to do so.
Currently 4,006 sold as of 8:10 PM NST.
+9 in ~2.5 hrs
Now at 4,021 sold as of 1:30 AM NST.
+15 in ~5.5 hours, but the last one that sold was actually almost 3 hours ago. Not a single one since 10:40 PM NST.
I also want to note that @pikachu315111 is right and their "peak" was in the first 2 minutes, when the bots bought up all 2,750 cheaper ones and bought a few hundred of the ones costing 2.5 SOL. Then it immediately went down to at most 50 per hour for the first few hours, and quickly reached only a couple per hour since.
Hey, honey? Look what I bought!

The fact that they've almost gotten to half is disgusting still, but it sounds like it will hopefully just be burned anyway since apparently people weren't willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a money laundering pyramid scheme.

It is utterly bizarre watching people in the NFT discord theorize and speculate about the grand plans that the Neopets Metaverse team has, when the actual team can't figure out how to perform basic community engagement. The lack of effort is astounding, and holders are still convinced that their will be a fully fledged p2e game somehow?
The "Long Game" article makes no reference to the word Genesis, but after people started using this word in the discord, it was mentioned by the HappyMist member of the dev team in one of their maybe 10 messages in the server. In another mention they said something about how Axie only had about 4000 Genesis NFTs as well. Correct me if I'm wrong: Axie had actual developed the infrastructure of a game at this point? And was able to explain how the traits would translate, etc?
@tree I also don't understand, like...if they want to play a game with their "neopet" so badly, why not just, um. Play neopets. It's far from perfect, but it already exists?
Especially with how so many people supporting this project seem to regard actual neopets players so poorly/have no interest in the site, why would they be so excited to play hypothetical Expensive Neopets??
Place your bets ladies and gentleman!
I’d be surprised if it broke 4500 at this point. Many of the supporters seems to be seeing this for the cash grab it is and bailing.
@jaudaran: "if they want to play a game with their "neopet" so badly"
I don't think they personally want to play a game with their nft-pets. I think they want the functionality to be there so that it increases the value of their "investment" and they can profit off the resale. That's what NFTs are to the majority of people interested in them. An investment, which they are hoping to profit off of. That's why they're so adamant about keeping up the "hype" around the project, so that the "value" of the NFTs rise.
@berriganify I know that's what most people were buying them for, but I guess you're right--I was thinking some of the people talking about the potential game aspect might be sincere, but maybe I'm probably being too...I don't feel like optimistic is the right word? lol
**maybe I'm being or I'm probably being...don't know how both snuck in, there
And I keep on asking the question no one seems to have an answer to that this whole "investment" idea lingers on: Sell to who?
Not the Neopet players, it's way to costly for most (not to mention we already own a Neopet, many multiple, which we could customize and do stuff with for free; and if we want to spend money there's NC we could use to buy many clothing items with).
To other NFTers? Well, there is still 5.5+k Neopet NFT left and they don't seem to be going anywhere. Which tells me, after the cheap ones, no NFTer thinks a Neopet NFT is worth more than 2 Sol. But no NFTer is gonna wanna sell it less than what they paid for unless desperate, and this all leads down to the NFT being essentially worthless.
And I can't think of anyone else. So, I ask again, who is the end customer here? The one who is going to buy the NFT above the cost that was spent to make it?
The only ones I see making money are the ones MAKING the NFT, and a lucky few who had a celebrity or "influencer" who for some reason buys someone's NFT for thousands. Everyone else? Your better off buying lotto tickets with the money you'd spent on NFTs.
@pikachu315111: To other NFTers, most likely. Not right away. But that's why the "hype" is so important to them.
You're right, the vast majority of them are not going to be able to resell/profit. Which is why everyone is calling it a scam. But no NFT'er thinks that could happen to them. They think they've made a good investment, either because they buy into the hype, or because they believe that they can generate enough hype to convince other people to buy,
The whole thing just feels so gross...
@ berriganify: But, what does the other NFTer want with it? Why didn't they buy when they were available?
It's all about the money.
Multiple people have asked that instead of burning the unsold supply, that they give them away to free to existing owners (who already bought) so you can get more than one to play the alleged game with.
But the official moderator response to those questions are that diluting the supply with unsold extras would ruin the secondary market where those who bought at 1-2.5 SOL will go on to attempt to sell at a higher price.
If this was truly about creating an accessible game, then the Metaverse team wouldn't really be too worried about boosting the market values.

Sorry, it's not related to this post, but I'm not sure if I can get the free NC birthday bag on my sides since it automatically gives you 500 NC when you log in
@alessia NC related stuff is usually okay to collect on side accounts. And also because you cannot avoid getting it when logging in, it should be totally ok to grab the 500 NC on side accounts.

@pasqui Thank you!
Of course. Of those thousands sold, probably next to none bought by anyone who cares about the site. The rest is just people with too much money and too much ego trying to sell digital pictures to one another. Emulating the company that ripped them off in the first place. How sad.

So how's the money laundering pyramid scheme going today, eh? Did TNT cash in their SOLs, at least, so they got cents on the Euro for mortgaging the franchise?
