It's not just you! Neopets.com began experiencing extreme lag starting a bit after 11am NST.


Pages are sometimes still eventually loading, but taking an excessively long time to do so. Other times, the page load will culminate in an error served by EdgeSuite, Neopets.com's content delivery network.

We'll update this post when it seems to be resolved, or if TNT makes a statement.

Petpet Lore Writeups
We now have a collection of Petpet species lore summaries at the Book of Ages! We've catalogued the known lore of the over 500 species of Petpets in Neopia. Little is known about some, but others have quite a bit!

December Trivia Wrap-Up
Although we call it December Trivia, this annual tradition ends on January 2nd! Trophies went out to everyone who answered at least one trivia question correctly.

Caption Contest Guide Refresh
Our Caption Contest guide has been overhauled with a greater level of detail on the mechanics of the contest, as well as recent changes to the contest's timing and prizes.

Neopies and Neopies VIP Raffle 2026
Neopia's annual retrospective awards event, the Neopies, started a bit early this year! Check out our guide for all the nominees, winners, and prizes. New categories will continue through February 12, with voting through February 15.


Its Neocash tie-in, the Neopies VIP Raffle, started even earlier! The final prizes will be available tomorrow, though you can continue to purchase tickets through February 26, and continue to redeem them until next year's event.

Sakhment Soiree

We've broken up our previously rather lengthy guide to the Pound into separate sections for each of the Pound's main activities, which will hopefully make it a bit easier to navigate.

Tales of Dacardia
Tales of Dacardia switched back to Donation Drives from Donation Domes last month, giving a the storm-battered island a break from inexplicble assailants by hosting Tapi Triplau, the newly-named Tropical Food Shopkeeper. We have a guide up covering the mechanics and prizes:

Welcome to the 1st Saturday of the month: Rubbish Dump Day!

In April 2022, TNT updated the Rubbish Dump to increase the drop rate of "rubbish" eligible for the avatar. (And we've even seen some Hidden Tower items pop up that weren't previously confirmed as prizes!)

The Rubbish Dump is special in that items dropped there appear after a Neopian refreshes the dump. (In other words, refreshing the page gives you the chance to "donate" some rubbish to the queue.) The more people visiting and refreshing, the more rubbish dropped, and the more opportunities there are for avatar items to appear!

Starting now, and continuing all day, here's how you can gather and participate:

If you DON'T have the avatar...

• Visit the Rubbish Dump in Meridell and refresh to generate rubbish!
• Claim up to 8 pieces of rubbish to clear the way for more items to appear. (And make sure not to claim anything from the Money Tree or Second-Hand Shoppe... it's 10 items max from all 3 locations combined!)
• To be safe from accidental clicks, save your last 2 rubbish claims for when an avatar item pops up. (You can claim up to 10 items from the Rubbish Dump per day.)
• Review our guide to familiarize yourself with which items are eligible for the avatar.

If you DO have the avatar...

• Visit the Rubbish Dump in Meridell and refresh to help generate rubbish! Even if you have the avatar, refreshing helps generate more "donations" that will show up later. (And that means more opportunities for avatar items to pop up!)
• Claim up to 10 pieces of rubbish to help clear the way for avatar-eligible items to appear.
• Be kind and leave the cheaper avatar-eligible items (like the Fading Bottled Faeries) for those who need the avatar! We won't mind, however, if you try sniping a Dung Catapult.

Varwolf Accessibility Improvements
Varwolves have become cheaper to obtain with the recent update allowing the Spooky Foods required for the questline to restock in Spooky Foods. In addition, it sounds like morphing potions are coming soon:

We’re making it easier than ever to discover and customise Varwolf! New items are restocking in the Spooky Food shop, Varwolf morphing potions are available in a variety of colours, and more painting options are on the horizon.

Bookshelf Collection Update
The Neopian Book Award sounds like it'll be getting some updates, with a new design, the ability to search and sort what your pet has read, and more rewards for reading:

A modernised, mobile-friendly Bookshelf feature is on its way! Enjoy a fresh design, new search and sorting options, and earn rewards as you track your Neopet’s reading progress.

Wheel of Monotony NP Sink
In short, spend NP to make the Wheel of Monotony spin faster so you can enjoy the recent prize pool refresh:

You can now “Grease the Wheel of Monotony” by spending Neopoints to make the wheel spin faster. Enjoy quicker results and help keep Neopia’s economy balanced!

Premium Scratchcard Prize Pool Update
Premium Scratchcards will be getting a prize pool update soon, which was announced recently via Release Notes as well:

Premium members can look forward to a refreshed scratchcard prize pool, with new booktastic books, rare stamps, exclusive recolours, and more.

In addition to the coming soon updates above, the following recent updates were also highlighted:
