Legends and Letters

On May 20, 2020, Neopets announced that Legends & Letters would be discontinued, and the app was removed from app stores on July 22, 2020. At that time, the app was still playable if you had already had it downloaded to your device but is no longer available if you don't already have it.

The servers powering the game were slated to shut down on December 31, 2020 and end game play, but were not shut off until September 2022.

Gem Store

Legends and Letters has its own version of the NC Mall, accessible from the leftmost icon on the main navigation menu. Items available in this shop can only be purchased using real life money, as with the NC Mall on Neopets. However, the two are different stores, and NC Mall purchases on the main site do not carry over into the Legends and Letters Gem Store, and vice versa. The app version of the Mall uses a currency called Gems rather than Neocash. It is possible to earn Gems in small amounts from playing the game.

Gem Packs

Gems can be purchased in packs, and will be priced according to the local currency you use in your app store. Typically, it is better value to buy gems in higher numbers.

Note: Currently in game the Store is increasing the amount of gems awarded from these packs as an offer.

Wearables

Wearables in Legends and Letters can be applied to your Neopet, and are mostly based off wearables avilable in the NC Mall on the Neopets site. They do not offer any in-game advantage by being worn. Wearable zoning in Legends and Letters works differently compared to the Neopets site. There are only five available zones for wearables to occupy - hats, shirts, pants, shoes, and backgrounds. Only one item can occupy a zone at a time. So, for example, you would be unable to stack a wig or hat with an eyepatch in Legends and Letters, even though you can on the Neopets site.

Consumables

Clothing purchased in the app's Gem Store can be freely used and swapped as many times as you like. However, other items available in the Store will disappear after they have been used.

Summon Tokens

You can purchase tokens at the Store to use at Naia's Rainbow Pond. Each token will award you with a single character card of a given rarity (although it is possible to obtain a higher rarity card). The probabilities of getting each rarity, and which specific cards are in the prize pool, can be seen by tapping the red 'i' symbol on each token in the Gem Store.

Food

These Smoothies can be used in the card selection screen by tapping on your Neopet leader and tapping the 'Feed' button. They will fill up the energy bar of your leader, allowing you to take on more missions before hitting a cooldown. Note that you can 'overfeed' using the smoothies, meaning, for example, using a Simple Smoothie at 14 energy will result in your energy total becoming 22/15. However, if you close the app while you are 'overfed', this will reset you back to the maximum of 15/15.

Skip Tickets can be used to skip any battle in the level select screen, progressing straight to loot. Currently, they can only be purchased once every 8 hours.

Limited Time Deals

The app's Gem Store will sometimes have discounts for buying a group of items all at once, known as Limited Time Deals. These are typically advertised at the top of the Store screen.
