Issue 42
Published: August 20, 2008

"I think the problem is that the question was too broadly based..."

"Forty two?!" yelled Loonquawl. "Is that all you've got to show for seven and a half million years' work?"

"I checked it very thoroughly," said the computer, "and that quite definitely is the answer. I think the problem, to be quite honest with you, is that you've never actually known what the question is."

Despite the fact that the Ultimate Question has been researched and pondered for millions upon millions of years, we here at JN have come up with multiple possible Ultimate Questions. They all evoke the Ultimate Answer, so, they must all be correct!

First of all I want to say your page looks great, and I am glad that you help the users of neopets out so much. Now to my question. Do you know if TNT will ever release the announced but never released books? By now there are already 68 announced but not released books. Thank you for you answer :) ~ Andulien
Are you sure there are 68 of them? Last count we made, there were only 42...

Hey guys youre website is so good i wish i could it iet XD.....0-0. Ok now for my question, short and sweet, here it goes, in the next sentence. Can you get a krawk from the wheel of mediocrity? ive been trying but no luck so far, boohooo :( :D thanxs for youre time, you guys have helped me alot. ~ manicxe
According to our sources, you have a -42% chance of receiving a Krawk from the Wheel of Mediocrity.

HI!*waves* I was wondering...how do you know EVERYTHING that goes on at neopets? ~ xxside_kickxx
We know simply because everything is 42. It's easy to guess. "Oh, new caption? 42." "Uh-oh, a new game in the works? Must be 42."

Easy, see?

Hey, I was wondering if you could tell people what the puffs of smoke mean. Example, (insert pet name here) read (insert book name here) and turns into a puff of (insert color) smoke! I will be very sad if you dont do it.... SO DO IT! ~ neverfairy_Crisilia
Well, the purple puff means 42. The yellow puff means forty-two, and the red puff could be construed to be the product of 21 x 2.

What do the staff members of Jellyneo think of food becoming wearable? (Please note, this has not been announced by Tnt, or discussed on the HC. I am just wondering) Do you think that it would raise the prices too much, or be cool? ~ Gewei888
We took a survey among the staff, and 42% of us agree. It would be a bad idea. The other 42% said they would just eat all of the food rather than put it on their pets, and the remaining 42% was indifferent.

Would this get me into the next editorial? ~ flaming_shadow95
Only if it's 42.

Where did TNT get the idea of neopets? ~ cheesey_fluffball
They had a dream. In it, 42 fluffy and strange animals came frolicking through this field one day, and they followed them for the next 42 minutes until they were able to catch them and convince them to make a site with them!

What is a borovan? I dont live in the USA, and I was wondering what is it, all I can guess is it may be an asparagus of some sort OR maybe it is an invented item. ~ aedrict
A "borovan" is a 42 oz serving of a foul smelling British drink that not many people want to drink.

Hey JN. What's the story of the meepit, and why is it now known as an evil petpet? It it due to Neoquest? The meepit's life story is vital to the neopian economy. ~ magicalhat1
42. *This answer has been approved by the Meepit Council of Publicity.*

How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? ~ xeriuno
It takes precisely 42 (rather large and long) licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. Believe us, we've tried. It was 42 each time.

I have been a faithful member of neopets for over 7 years. HOWEVER my user lookup, and everyone above 6 years simply has a 6 year shield... Do you know if neo has any plans in the future of updating that? Thanks and love the site! ~ shtupid
There is only a 42% chance of TNT adding new shields at any given moment. Considering that they are about three years behind...

Heyy guys! Great site by the way, it helped me a lot w/ neopets. Now to my question. Can your neopet die?, like if it's sick too long or starving. Thanks! :] ~ lilxojordan513
Your pets cannot die, even if they have been sick/starving for 42 days. And remember: "Those who are dead are not dead / They're just living in my head."

SLOTH is here. Prepare your weapons, even that may not be enough... ~ blizara
Quick! Only 42 can save us all!

What do Baby Chias taste like? O: ~ Bob Saget
If seasoned properly with 42 different spices, they taste remarkably like chicken!

Is this question pointless? ~ _jj_jj_
Nope, because its answer is 42.

Why can bees still fly despite being deemed too heavy for conventional flight? ~ meercatristonhopets3
Because they have 42 special aerodynamic points on their body that allow them to easily hover off of the ground. Humans only have 41, hence our inability to soar through the skies. If only evolution would hurry along and finish up the last point!

In the last editorial, there was a jumping mynci and a roaring mutant meerca. How many times do they jump and roar a day? PS: You rock! *throws one at every staff member* You guys owe me 50 billion NPs!!! ~ jaygirl77
They get in a healthy 42 jumps a day. ;)

Hi JN, I know the Hitchhiker's Guided to the Galaxy Series is like the greatest thing since sliced potatoes, but why do you require us to write '42' to submit our questions? Just wondering. ~ mubu89
Because 42 is the perfect answer to everything. In fact, it can fit to life, the universe and everything.

*throws new mystery capsule* Is illusioniste really 99 and is Nynex really 1? ~ bunjayo
They consistently say that they are 99 and 1 respectively... but I have a sneaking suspicion that they are really 42.

Is it easy to get in Jellyneo's Editorial? ~ aaandi2006
Only if you're 42.

Does the question below "The Answer To The Question of Six Times Seven" have anything to do with the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy book ~ imnotcrazy3
Yes, as the answer is 42. Duh! :P

No need for arithmetic. It all equals 42.

*chucks a dachshund* If Dave were 42, would he be pwnier or less pwnie because of his middleagedness? ~ irishiris
Since he is 42, the perfect age, he is perfect in every way, meaning, he is most pwnsome at the ripe age of 42. ;)
