Charity Corner

2020

This year, Granny Hopbobbin is running Charity Corner to collect relief supplies for the citizens of Dacardia. The event is called "Saving Dacardia," and Captain Rourke has been employed to shuttle the supplies to Dacardia.

The event runs from September 14th through September 28th at 11:59 PM NST. Originally, the event was supposed to end on September 24th, but after a series of prize shop/points related glitches, the event was extended.

This year, an item prize shop is available instead of a perks shop. You may spend your prize shop points both during and after the event concludes. (At initial release, the FAQ stated that the prize shop would close with the end of the event, but TNT decided to allow it to remain open.)

Neopoint Drive

This year's system is similar to 2019's, in that you can donate the majority of item types and rarities:

  • You may donate any item, from r1 through r200. (See one exception below.)
  • You may donate an item from any item type category—it's not just books, clothing, etc.
  • You may donate anywhere from 1 to 15 items at a time. You do not need to fill all 15 donation slots at once.
  • You may donate any combination of rarity items. There are no rarity rules like in prior years.

Donation Restrictions

There are, however, a few restrictions this year:

  • You may not donate r180 items.
  • You may not donate Neocash (r500) items via the Neopoint Drive. (See our Neocash Drive section below.)
  • Sticky Snowballs, a r100 item, are worth only 1 point each instead of 8 points.
  • For the duration of the event, the Ever-Stocked General Store and Neohome Superstore have been closed. You may not use them to purchase cheap items. (Items that stocked in the stores that you already have can be donated.)

The General Store had this message displayed:

"Hello there! I am here to let you know that my..erm...Ever Stocked General Store is going to be closed for a while. I know, I know, it's supposed to be ever-stocked *sighs* but have you heard about the Living with Less initiative that Atsumi has started? It has made me wonder if I am guilty of being a hoarder too. I have decided to take stock of what I have and participate in it. My shop will be back up once the initiative is done.

Please do consider heading over to the Living with Less and see what our dear friend has to say!"

And the Neohome Superstore had this message displayed:

Please consider heading over to Living with Less and see what our dear friend has to say!

Rewards

New in 2020, an item prize shop is available to spend points in. Like last year, each item donated will award you with points that you will be able to redeem immediately in the item prize shop.

The points you receive depend on the individual items' rarities. Here's a breakdown:

  • r1-r79: 1 point
  • r80-89: 2 points
  • r90-97: 6 points
  • r98-r100: 8 points
  • Sticky Snowball: 1 point (a restriction in 2020, despite being r100)
  • r101: 1 point
  • r102-r179: 4 points
  • r200: 15 points

If you donate three r101 items (1 point each) and two r90 items (6 points each), you will receive a total of 15 points for that combination of items (1 + 1 + 1 + 6 + 6 = 15 points). The points you accumulate will be redeemable immediately in the item prize shop.

You will also receive an avatar for donating at least 100 items:

You may immediately spend the points you accumulate by donating items. The prize shop will remain open even after the event finishes. (At initial release, the FAQ stated that the prize shop would close with the end of the event.)

Due to glitches arising from the prize shop price reductions, all Neopians were given 500 free prize shop points, which were redeemable by clicking the "500 free points!" option in the prize shop.

Points Carryover

If you had any points remaining from the 2019 perks shop, they were carried over to this year's item prize shop in the following manner:

  • First 100 points - carried over as is
  • Next 101-1000 - reduced by 60%
  • Next 1001-5000 - reduced by 70%
  • 5001-50,000 - reduced by 90%
  • 50k+ - reduce by 99%

If you had 2,500 points remaining, then you should have received 910 points to spend right off the bat. (100 pts. + 900 x 40% + 1500 x 30% = 910)

Item Lists

We've prepared some lists in our Item Database that you may wish to make use of.

Heads up! We're working around the clock to update the prices in our Item Database, but prices tend to shift quickly during Charity Corner, so they may be slightly stale. The lists above will still act as a good reference regardless!

Price Checker Tools

We also recommend checking out our Price Checker Tools in the Item Database. There are tools available for your Closet, Gallery, SDB, Shop, and Neohome Storage Shed. Each tool allows you to input a page's source code from, say, your Safety Deposit Box, and get a list of all the items and the current Jellyneo price, along with the Charity Corner point value. Perfect for figuring out what to pull out into your inventory to donate!

Donation Tips and Strategies

Many of our favourite strategies—found on the Donation Strategy page—are still valid in 2020.

Donation Strategies »

Donating

Donating items has remained the same as in 2019. You may donate through your inventory, or you may use the Bulk Donation option.

When you click on an item in your inventory, there will be a button under the usual drop down menu for Charity Corner. Clicking it once will select the item for donation, and clicking it again will cancel that selection.

You can select up to 15 items this way, and then you must return to the Charity Corner page to perform the actual donation by clicking on the lever on Granny's machine.

You will be asked to confirm your choice, and then you must watch an animation of the machine working. You can also remove individual items from your donation list on the page by clicking on the X next to them at the bottom of the page.

Clicking the tray at the bottom of the machine will tell you how many points you earned for the donation.

Should you wish to check your total number of points over the course of the event, you can check the item prize shop for a running total.

Quick Donating

Returning in 2020 is the "Quick Donation" page, which allows you to check off 1-15 items in your inventory and instantly donate them—vastly speeding up the donation process.

Clicking the red "Donate" button will instantly donate the items, whereas "Take to Recycling Machine" will take you to the Charity Corner hub where you can click the lever and watch the donation animation (which is not necessary and slows you down).

Quick Donations Page »

Neocash Drive

The Gift Shop opened on September 14th, through September 28th and is accepting donations of Neocash items. Donating will allow you to access a special gift shop with exclusive Neocash items.

To get started, you'll need to purchase a Donation Box for the NC items you want to donate. They are available in the NC Mall.

After you purchase your pack, you will have to activate it in your inventory. Then, you will have the listed number of NC donations to make. Choose any Neocash items you would like to donate, and place them in your inventory. Any Neocash item is eligible for donation.

As with the NP side of the event, there is a NC function in the Gifting Gadget machine that will allow a Bulk Donation option for NC items, which allows donation of up to 10 items at a time. Alternatively, you can manually select each NC item in your inventory for donation, up to a maximum of 10 at a time. Once you've selected your items, return to the Gift Shop and pull the lever on the machine to donate the items.

You will need to confirm donating the items, since they will be gone forever.

NC donations this year do not count towards totals for final prizes.

Gift Shop

Items in the gift shop cost anywhere from three to twelve donation receipts (aka donating three to twelve items). When you select an NC item worth 6, 9, or 12 badges, you will also receive a Basic Gift Box in addition to the item. Below are all of the items available:

Gifts Available for 3 Donation Badges
Gifts Available for 6 Donation Badges

Flower Pinwheel

Island Summer Home
(wearable)

Seashell Dress
(wearable)

Surfboard Wall

Gifts Available for 9 Donation Badges
Gifts Available for 12 Donation Badges
