  • July 2, 2008, 3:42 pm NST - Oh dear, these score updates are a bit late, but that was because I spent the day at Six Flags the other day, and the day I missed has totally thrown off my routine. (How was Terry's update, by the way? Better than mine are? :P)

Anywho, yesterday was business like usual for teams Roo Island, Shenkuu, Kreludor and the Lost Desert, as they were able to sweep their opponents for an easy three wins.

Krawk Island vs. Tyrannia, on the other hand, didn't turn out like the pirates would have liked. Tyrannia is on fire with Slushie Slinger (figuratively of course... or else the slushies would all melt :O), pulling a win over Krawk Island, and proving that they're a beast at slinging slushies. (How do they do it!?)

The day was rather bleak for the Haunted Woods (though, I'm told it's always dreary weather in the Haunted Woods). The Darigan Citadel was showing a little "oomf" yesterday by winning both YYB and MSN, and taking a draw against the poor denizens of Haunted Woods in SS.

Another well played game was that of Mystery Island vs. Meridell. Both of them are yo-yoing in and out of the top four places, so this was an important match for both teams. Meridell was lucky enough to take wins in both MSN and SS, but MI triumphed in YYB, the most important event of the AC.

One of the most surprising events was Faerieland's Yooyuball win yesterday against Brightvale! This is their first win ever during the third AC, so it's a big time of celebration for the faeries today. :) Not surprisingly though, Brightvale is ranked in the bottom most bracket, so it's not big of a feat, but a feat nonetheless. ;)

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.
  • July 1, 2008, 10:30 am NST - Today is the last day of the first Round Robin, which means that there are 15 more games to go!

Interestingly enough, if anyone wins every game that they have to play, they can zoom up to 1st Place by the end of the Altador Cup, just in time for the semifinals!

Kudos to teams Haunted Woods, Krawk Island, Roo Island, and Shenkuu for sweeping their opponents, teams Altador, Meridell, Brightvale and Faerieland, respectively. Team Haunted Woods moved up from 7th Place to 3th Place, and Shenkuu from 9th to 8th.

Maraqua put up a great fight yesterday against Mystery Island, tieing in everything except Yooyuball. Darigan Citadel was also playing hard against Lost Desert, tieing in everything with them except Slushie Slinger, which Team Lost Desert took.

There are two matches you should keep your eye out for -- Darigan Citadel v Haunted Woods, Mystery Island v Meridell, and Roo Island v Maraqua. These three matches WILL move teams into and out of the Top 4 -- potentially making today the most important day.

You should head on over to our Scores and Rankings Page to see the full standings!
  • June 30, 2008, 8:52 am NST - The second to last day of the first round robin has finished...

Kreludor has yet again shown its strength by stealing two wins from the Lost Desert, a team thought to have a definite spot in the top four. Could Kreludor surprise us all and rise up to the top bracket?

Tyrannia's winning streak in Slushie Slinger was also upset by Mystery Island. Although neither lost, a draw was issued by the AC scoring committee. The Darigan Citadel was also mildly upset by a low level team, Altador, who managed to tie DC in Slushie Slinger.

Another big match was that of Meridell vs. Roo Island. YYB resulted in a draw, but Meridell pulled a win in SS and RI won in MSN. Definitely an interesting game.

Other teams that had good days were Krawk Island, Shenkuu, the Haunted Woods, and Maraqua. They all swept their opponents and had a nice boost in their rank.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.
  • June 29, 2008, 9:11 am NST - And as the dust settles... another day of matches have concluded.

The biggest game of the day was that of Roo Island vs. Krawk Island. Neither pulled more wins than the other, but Roo Island was able to get a win in Yooyuball, showing their prowess on the field. Krawk Island, not to be completely shown up, started slinging slushies like crazy and got their win in Slushie Slinger. Both teams couldn't scream any louder than one another, though... resulting in a tie for Make Some Noise.

Another big match was Meridell vs. The Lost Desert. Similar to RI vs. KI, each got one win, but a draw in the third event. But this time, the draw was in YYB, the most important event in the Cup.

The rest of the events also went extremely well for the winners. Tyrannia, Shenkuu, the Darigan Citadel, the Haunted Woods, Kreludor and Mystery Island all swept their opponents, making for a very short scores update today.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team. And don't forget, these posts will only be posted the AC Coverage section during the week, but during weekends, we'll post them on the main site as well. :)

  • June 28, 2008, 7:53 am NST - Another day, another great set of matches.

Before we talk about yesterday... let's talk about today! The two top teams, Krawk Island and Roo Island will be squaring off today... and boy what a match up it'll be! The team who wins this will most likely steal first place, so much is on the line for both teams. Roo Island may be able to re-claim the spot that Krawk Island has been guarding dearly since it achieved it earlier this week.

Anywho, back to yesterday. The biggest match of the day was the squareoff between Krawk Island and the Lost Desert, both very powerful teams. Both their Yooyuball and Make Some Noise games ended in a draw, but Krawk Island came out victorious in Slushie Slinger.

Another interesting match was that of Roo Island and Tyrannia. We're not sure what those Tyrannian players are doing, but it's becoming impossible for them to lose any of their Slushie Slinger matches! Apart from that, Roo Island took wins in both YYB and MSN.

The poor Darigan Citadel was also mildly upset by Virtupets, a team that you would think would never be able to achieve a draw against another team. But they did so anyway, having a draw in SS, but two losses in YYB and MSN.

Kreludor is also showing that it wants a shot at the Cup this year. They plowed over the Haunted Woods yesterday, snapping up wins in YYB and SS, but allowing a win to reach the hands of the Haunted Woods in MSN. Slowly but surely, they're climbing the ranks. Could they come out of nowhere and secure themselves a place in the top four? I definitely wouldn't be surprised if they pull that off.

Meridell, Mystery Island, Brightvale, and Shenkuu also had good days, pulling off a sweep of their opponents.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team. And don't forget, these posts will only be posted the AC Coverage section during the week, but during weekends, we'll post them here as well. :)
  • June 27, 2008, 4:58 am NST - It wasn't a very good day for some teams in the past day's events.

Only two sweeps were made in yesterday's games. Both Roo Island and Krawk Island were the only two able to pull sweeps over their opponents, Mystery Island and Faerieland respectively.

Other interesting matches included the Darigan Citadel and Maraqua. Even though DC was able to pull a win in YYB and MSN, Maraqua did not let them sling anymore slushies than they could. Tyrannia is also still showing that they won't ever lose a game of Slushie Slinger--they just beat the Lost Desert (but let the desert residents take wins in YYB and MSN).

There was also a mild upset with Kreludor and Shenkuu. Both teams took draws in YYB and SS, but Shenkuu took the win in MSN. Not that Shenkuu has been showing much strength this year, but team Kreludor is showing that they're ready to meet any team head on.

Virtupets won their match against Brightvale, having a win in SS and draws in the other two events. Altador had a good showing against Terror Mountain as well, getting two wins in SS and MSN, but a loss in YYB. And last but not least, the Haunted Woods achieved a win in YYB, but a loss in SS and a draw in MSN against Meridell.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.
  • June 26, 2008, 8:04 am NST - Yesterday was... quite interesting.

It was an amazing day for teams Krawk Island, Maraqua, Roo Island and Tyrannia, sweeping their opponents, teams Haunted Woods, Brightvale, Terror Mountain and Faerieland, respectively. Krawk Island is holding steady in 1st Place, Maraqua is slowly creeping up to the Top Four, and is moving into the Top Eight. (Remember that finals this year are being done in a new bracket system, so don't lose hope!)

In other news, it appears as if the Battle of the Lands will continue between Roo Island and Tyrannia, with Roo Island rising back up to 2nd Place and Lost Desert's fall to 3rd. Who will get 2nd Place tomorrow? We shall see. Lost Desert needs to step it up just a bit so the point margin between them and Roo Island remains the same, especially with Tyrannia being their opponent today. Tune in to jnNews for the latest score info!

The best match from yesterday, between Kreludor and Darigan Citadel, ultimately ended in a tie for all three games. Kreludor is putting up a great effort in this Altador Cup, and I would not be surprised if they make their way up to the Top 4 from their current 7th Place. We asked Darigan Citadel Team Captain, Layton Vickles, about yesterday's games and he had this to say: "We've been pretty out of it lately. Honestly, I'm still a bit fatigued from the last Altador Cup, and I'm sure the rest of my team is. Our supporters are great, and we enjoy having all of you at our games. We'll be back up in 1st Place before you know it!"

In other news, there appears to be quite a lot of drawing and sweeping going on. I like the latter. The more drawing that happens, the closer you are to other teams weighted score-wise. More sweeping, less drawing. *nod*

Overall, it appears that all teams are stepping their game up (like Kreludor, the new team on the block) -- of course, with a few exceptions. Shenkuu, last year ending in 3rd Place, is now in 11th Place, and the somewhat predictable fall of Darigan Citadel, last year taking home the Altador Cup, now in 10th Place. You still have 21 more days. If you step it up, you still have a chance at winning the cup!

Head over to our Scores and Rankings Page for more score information! (This Altador Cup is proving to be a very interesting one from a mathematics point of view.)
  • June 25, 2008, 7:56 am NST - Another day of interesting matches in the third Altador Cup!

It's nothing but good news for Shenkuu, who was able to sweep Terror Mountain, and claim three more victories to add to their record. Could this be an upswing and a change in attitude of team Shenkuu that will get them to the top like last year? We'll see... they have 22 more days to make it!

It was also another disappointing day for Roo Island, who lost to the Haunted Woods in Make Some Noise, and had a draw in Slushie Slinger. They were still able to maintain their integrity, however, and earn a win in Yooyuball. As Neopia looks upon the games, everyone is beginning to wonder if Roo Island has become a little too confident with their powerhouse streak during the first few rounds.

Another good match was that of Mystery Island and the Darigan Citadel. Once again, the Darigan Citadel has not won, but was able to pick up two draws under Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise. They did not have as much luck with Yooyuball, though, with Mystery Island stealing a win in that event.

Maraqua and Meridell, two teams thought to be matched evenly, also went head to head in yesterday's games. Meridell was triumphant, though, with its single win in Slushie Slinger, and draws in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise.

Other notable mentions include Krawk Island, Tyrannia, Kreludor, and the Lost Desert for pulling sweeps of their competition.

As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team. A rather big shake up has occurred in the top 4, so you better get over there to see the latest rankings!
  • June 24, 2008, 9:21 am NST - Big, big, BIG upset in today's score updates!

In what has probably been the biggest upset in the Cup thus far, team Lost Desert has managed to sweep Roo Island right across the floors of the Altador Colosseum! This definitely comes as a surprise to the Rooligans, as they have been considered the forerunners in this year's Cup, and the ones expected to snap up first place. Now, it appears as if Krawk Island has gained a considerable lead over Roo Island due to its sweep of the Darigan Citadel. There's still plenty of time for Roo Island to catch up, though! In fact, this Saturday is when both Islands meet up on the field for the first time in this year's competition.

In other news, Shenkuu has also gained some success over their opponents yesterday, Tyrannia. Shenkuu was able to pull their first Yooyuball win, and a second win in Make Some Noise. Tyrannia, however, was able to get their own win in Slushie Slinger, a sport that they are proving to know how to play.

Maraqua, Kreludor, Terror Mountain, and Meridell were also able to pull sweeps of their opponents for a good showing in yesterday's games. The Haunted Woods is also proving to not be a team that you can be lax with! They pulled a draw in both YYB and SS with Mystery Island, but managed to win MSN.

This has definitely been the most exciting day so far in this year's Cup! As always, head on over to our Scores and Rankings page for an update on the placing of each team.
  • June 23, 2008, 6:07 am NST - Hello again fellow Jellopians, here is yesterday's match update.

The Lost Desert, Haunted Woods, Meridell, Kreludor, Roo Island, and Krawk Island all had easy days yesterday. Each pulled off a clean sweep of their opponents. The Rooligans left poor Faerieland in the dust, in what looks like will be another bad year for them. Kreludor is also showing itself to be a worthy team, having pulled off its second sweep, and having a good first couple of days in their matches against the non-dominant teams.

Tyrannia also had a fantastic showing in yesterday's matches. After placing 11th in last year's Cup and not being considered a powerful team, they went and stole the Slushie Slinger competition from right under the noses of the Darigan Citadel. It seems as if the Draconians are proving time and time again that yes--winning the Cup is a curse for your next year of play.

There is also fantastic news about team Shenkuu! They earned their first win yesterday over Mystery Island in a fierce Make Some Noise battle. Although most Shenkuu players now have a serious case of laryngitis, they did not let that prevent them from achieving a draw in Yooyuball, the most important event. (After all, you don't need to talk in order to play Yooyuball!)

We also have a couple of Altador Cup related tidbits to share. Firstly, if anyone is interested in Twitter, check out the Altador Cup Twitter feed created by Sirius, former owner of The Times Tower. He'll be making updates daily about the Altador Cup.

Also, our AC Staff Tourney top three guessing ends tomorrow night! If you haven't already, get over to the guessing page and make your guess now. It can't hurt to participate when there's a pot of 250,000 NP up for grabs. ;)

Also, to those having trouble with our Altador Cup Record images, we have switched up the coding for Neopets. We think the issue was that in IE6 and below, you needed to add width and height attributes to the image, so, we went ahead and programmed them in. If you were having trouble before, please re-copy and paste your coding to where it once was to get the fix. If you didn't have problems before--don't worry, you need not change anything.
