Just as a heads up, image host Tinypic is closing down on Monday, September 16th. If you have images hosted there for your lookup, gallery, or shop layouts, you will need to consider downloading backup copies and moving them to a new web source.
We currently recommend using Imgur
as a replacement. (Photobucket is another option, but only if you're willing to pay for the service.)
"photobucket is an option"
laughs because like 80% of images hosted on neo petpages now have "photobucket" watermarks on them.
My imgur pics from 5? years ago are still going strong though, a little bit suspicious how good of a service it's been.
Surprised it lasted this long

i honestly thought ppl stopped using years ago.
there was a time when uploaded images on would change out of nowhere to someone elses uploaded photo.... which i'm sure you could imagine not all were safe for neo. so your innocent drawing of your hissi would get swapped overnight with someones "selfie" if ya know what i mean and you'd be in deep doodoo on neo.
i stopped using it during that time after some of my own images were replaced with random pics.

oh excuse me. am i not allowed to say t i n y p i c, myself? all instances disappeared from my post.
There's also postimage too.
(Photobucket is another option, but only if you're willing to pay for the service.)
So, you're saying Photobucket isn't an option.

I wonder why all these image-hosting sites are just slowly disappearing or becoming paid service? Truly the end of an era to say the least. Imgur's are only hope.
@inkpot: Sorry, we probably blocked that phrase back in 2014 when we last posted a warning about Tinypic serving up porn instead of the images you uploaded 🙃
@fenix: Free image hosting is likely just a money pit. I'm not too surprised. I think it's just a matter of *when* for any given service...
But they already took it down.
I was shocked to learn recently that Disney owns photobucket. Explains why it's not free anymore
It's quite depressing how so much of Neopets user edited pages are now just covered in watermarks or outright broken images.
DISNEY OWNS PHOTOBUCKET?! *suddenly is interested in buying it*
Is it an annual fee or one time purchase?
What are the rates?
I wanna fund the Disney-pocalypse!

My images stopped working a few days ago. Does this mean there's still a chance to save them? How?
I've tried updating links to imgur but every time I save my petpage, the imgur links are -blocked-. Is that happening to anyone else?
make sure the links are in img tags I guess. It works for me.
I didnt even know this was happening....the internet's really changing, oof

I used another site that uploads to Imgur servers for the moment cause I can't see where Imgur itself offers direct image links. I mean, the .jpg (or whatever extension) links. A search told me they don't offer those, so how does it work for what we use them for? Or...if they do have that option...where?
, 09/15/2019, 5:39 pm NST
Postimage does look like good option (although always good to have more than one option just in case!)
i downloaded my photobucket hosted images and when you download them they don't have that ugly watermark
that made it easy to reupload them to imgur
on imgur if you right click on an image and click "open image in new tab" it will show you the direct link in the address bar

Ahh thanks! I'm never sure if direct links will work when used when a site doesn't offer them as an "official" option, but good to know. Since they ask for phone number to make an account, I wanna be certain it has what I need before doing it.
You can just click on a photo in your imgur gallery and it will have several options to share the image. hTML or bbcode but also direct link.
Yeah, I learned too late that they were shutting down and I didn't have any option to recover stuff I had uploaded as a non-registered :/
Some stuff is lost forever, unfortunately. I might be able to dig through cache and pull it out somewhere, but strange that they decided to purge images, THEN make it apparent that to non-frequent users that the date to save stuff had passed.

I would not suggest photobucket. Ive been using imgfly.me for over a year with not much problems. They are pretty quick to fix problems as they occur.
In fact this is in their TOS
We allow hot linking with all images. But websites who host their own image to use us as a CDN will be banned from our network. Remember that's service is provided with love and for free!

oh and also imgbox is another site that works well with neopets, and never had a problem with them

I've been using the free version of cloudinary after photobucket went greedy.
@ummy: Photobucket isn't owned by Disney. Photobucket was briefly a Fox Interactive Media subsidiary for a few years (which was a part of Fox that Disney didn't buy) before being spun out to be its own company again.
Guess I’ll have to fund the Disney-pocalypse some other way.
*drinks vegan cheeseburger in a cup* 🥤
I use image shack...it costs $18.99 a year but it is worth it and I host a lot of images there
I prefer https://imgbb.com/ to imgur.
