Charity Corner Live!

UPDATE: The event is now live!

» View Our Charity Corner Guide «

UPDATE: The FAQ is now live. This year's event will be the Make a Difference Drive and will be starting later today (Monday 12th). The page is now up, but the event isn't live. You cannot currently donate NP or NC (though the NC prizes can be previewed).

Does the rarity of the items I donate affect the points I earn?
Yes, the higher the rarity of an item you donate, the higher the points you earn for it.

For how long will the Make a Difference drive be available?
The Make a Difference Drive will start on the 12th of March at 10:00:00 NST and will go on for 11 days, ending on the 23rd of March at 10:00:00 NST.

How do I donate items to the Make a Difference Drive?
Head over to the Charity Corner hub page. For NP items, click Donate NP Items and pick items you want to donate from your inventory. These items will show up when you click on the drop down menus. Once you have selected all the items you want to donate, click Donate and contribute to the drive. Every item donated will earn you points that you can redeem at the prize shop after the event ends. For NC items, complete Step 1 by buying a pack of your choice and proceed to Step 2 to donate from your inventory. Items donated here will earn you a receipt that you can redeem at the Gift Shop immediately.

I have donated but haven’t got any prizes in return. When can I expect them?
Every donation will earn you points. Since Granny believes that charity should be for the sake of helping those in need and not a means to earn prizes, you can redeem the points you earn for something else instead. Something special that she has arranged for you by pulling some strings and getting in touch with some very influential people. At the end of the event, go over to the prize shop to redeem your points for these boons. Psst, don’t go telling you heard it from us!

Is there a specific kind of item you are looking for?
No. Anything you donate can and will make life a little better for those Neopians who have lost their homes and hearths to the destructions. From food to books to toys to everything else in between, every donation you make will earn you points that you can later redeem.

What can I donate to the Make a Difference Drive?
Absolutely anything! Granny is looking to rehabilitate all Neopians affected by the Wraiths and anything you can come forward with will go a long way in making that a success. Rest assured; your generosity won’t go unnoticed. Though Granny insists charity is only for the sake of charity this year, a little birdie told me she has something grand planned out! Granny will reward you with points for every item you donate to the drive and you can redeem your points at the prize shop for something extra special. Extra special what, you ask? You will have to find out, won’t you? At the end of the event, you will also receive a trophy and bonus prizes!

What is the Make a Difference Drive?
Charity Corner is an annual charitable event run by Granny Hopbobbin. The Year 20 version of the event is called the Make A Difference Drive as this year, the kindly Granny has decided to lend a hand and make a difference to the lives of all those who have been affected by the war against the Wraiths. You can join in and help make her event a roaring success by donating as many items as you possibly can. There are no limits to what or how much you can donate so be extra generous. Now, don’t go ask Granny what you are getting in return for your generosity. She will probably tell you off but we have it on good authority that something special is coming your way. Make sure to visit the prize shop at the end of the event.

A new front page banner for the upcoming Charity Corner event has been uploaded:

This suggests that the theme of this year's event will be cleaning up after the destruction caused by the Wraiths, and hints at new reward mechanics.

New way of rewarding... Meaning that it probably wont be giving out rare items within the rarity ranges as in the past. There will be a lot of item hoarders upset about this. I wonder what it will be.

2b4saken, 03/11/2018, 4:09 pm NST
I''ll be so thankful of that. Made the event unappealing in the past.

1jediboy, 03/11/2018, 4:16 pm NST
I'm hoping they give out Codestones!
They're always so expensive all the time!
If THAT were the reward, not only would the donation items be FLYING off the shelves, but Codestone prices would FINALLY go down! (Slightly, but still something.)

Who wants all Codestones for prizes?

dr_tomoe, 03/11/2018, 4:27 pm NST
Maybe there's a CC prize shop and how many points you donate determines what rarity of item you can get?

sketch, 03/11/2018, 4:39 pm NST
Aw i liked how they gave out rare items, it allowed rare items to be made more available and affordable. Though if it's changing I'm guessing it's gonna be some kind of prize shop with points.

cheyennet2, 03/11/2018, 4:54 pm NST
I also think the prize shop with points is what they will do. I was looking forward to there being an influx of cheaper MPs soon, though.

josie, 03/11/2018, 5:12 pm NST
I'm so looking forward to this. Charity Corner is one of my favorite events

kirkeyressa, 03/11/2018, 6:01 pm NST
Personally i hope it'll be stat increases relative to rarity... Training is so long and expensive.... Prize shop would be awesome too.

jcdiva7, 03/11/2018, 6:24 pm NST
it could be in terms of how much you donated though...I am thinking (and hoping) that there is still prizes for your donations as previous CC's buuut instead of exclusive prizes, they have a final prize shop and however much you donated will be what you can spend in that shop...so if you donated say, over 2000 times, there could be prizes you use your points in a prize shop similar to the AC prize shop...last year's CC prizes for donating were a bit lame...at least a prize shop you can pick and choose what items you want

1jediboy, 03/11/2018, 6:33 pm NST
*gets back on soapbox* I SAY WHO'S WITH ME ON CODESTONE PRIZES!!!

mukked, 03/11/2018, 6:36 pm NST
The Codestone idea does not sound that exciting to me, considering how easy it is to farm those from the Battledome.

jcdiva7, 03/11/2018, 6:57 pm NST
I don't think many codestones will be given out during the CC but then again, what do I know?...I would prefer to gain more stamps in my album and maybe a few to sell so I can save up some more

jcdiva7, 03/11/2018, 7:09 pm NST
@1jediboy: do you battle Koi Warrior?...he tends to drop a lot of codies like candy...if you can, battle him on a daily basis

fuzzyflufffeet, 03/11/2018, 7:21 pm NST
honestly I only care that they let me buy things to donate this junk NC stuff that I have and get cute new items in return. That's my favorite part about the CC

1jediboy, 03/11/2018, 8:27 pm NST
...*sigh* *gets off soap box*

Yeah, it's not "likely" they'll release codestones for this, but considering how many r101 items we CAN'T donate, I thought codestones would be a perfect solution!

If we got those, the deflation of the items would be good, as well as something that wouldn't stay deflated for very long; knowing codestones would INEVITABLY be used for training! (Unlike dubloons which you can only spent to train your pet to level 40).

Eo codestones are CRAZY expensive! I thought it would be a good excuse for us to finally donate r101 items which they couldn't take before. You typically give items in a certain rarity range and they give you an item from that same range. We were never allowed to give r101 items.

(SOOOOO many r101 items!!! )

(Thank you for the suggestion, I never tried battling him. I will now. )

1jediboy, 03/11/2018, 8:31 pm NST
*snaps fingers* *gets back on soap box*

josie, 03/11/2018, 9:18 pm NST
@1jediboy - Thanks for always making me laugh with your posts

I'm with you on the r101 items. That would be nice!

1jediboy, 03/11/2018, 9:39 pm NST
@josie - Glad I could bring you some joy!

peppermint, 03/11/2018, 9:46 pm NST
I cringe to think of whatever they would put in a potential 'exclusive' prize shop if they go that route since most people are inevitably disappointed by such things, such as the junk put in the prize shop for the AC.

You can't help but think they'll put in things like a granny keychain in a five different colors for 100 donations, a granny bobblehead for 500, a granny commemorative wig for 1000, and for 3000 you can get a book, let's call it 'Granny's Guide to Charity'. Then there will be no available prize bracket between 3000 and 20,000, and for 20,000 donations you can get a granny stamp.

*headdesk* Say it ain't so.

jcdiva7, 03/11/2018, 10:17 pm NST
okay for 20k donations you have to literally have 100k items to donate...that is impossible...I think the max amount of donations needed for the shop's top prize should be at 2000 because that means you donated over 10k in items...last CC I donated over 2800 times I believe...it was a tedious process with donating, buying, and working on my masters while running my guild...and here I am, willing to do it all over again

ducky - JN Staff, 03/11/2018, 10:27 pm NST
Well. Hoarders shouldn't be upset since they must have been aware that maybe things change. Maybe it asks different category (now...Granny wants collect weapons away doesn't she?)

Prizeshop would be.. meh

inkpot, 03/12/2018, 1:43 am NST
i haven't participated in a charity corner since the first one... i just don't hoard things in my sdb (aside from stuff i actually like) and quite frankly, even given this here memo of another one up and coming i still don't want to shove junk in my sdb and i hate myself for it cause everyone says they make mad bank from charity corner (even though i lost 300k in the first in an attempt to get a better tropy/avatar). idk what's wrong with me..

biediep, 03/12/2018, 2:55 am NST
If it's just going to be a lousy prize shop with items exclusive to the CC event then count me out. As a stamp collector who's dying to get the Snowy Valley avatar I always look forward to the CC but this has me nervous.. Hopefully at least enough other people will still want to participate to make selling hoarded items worth it and keep saving up for the stamps myself lol..

itaxerxes, 03/12/2018, 4:41 am NST
Yes I want stamps too. Only did the last ones for stamps, if I can't get them because they changed a perfect system, I'll be sad

beyondelsewhere, 03/12/2018, 7:15 am NST
Maybe the change is that you'll have to wait weeks before you can donate anything a second time because it will seem like JS just sort of forgot that there was an event going on and nothing updates for months.

ducky - JN Staff, 03/12/2018, 7:45 am NST
I hope Granny Hobgoblin takes weapons. I mean - that way those poor Neopians will be better armed next time.

topaz644, 03/12/2018, 7:49 am NST

I have no faith in a prize shop. I still haven't redeemed my AC points. If they should stock it with already released items the value of that stuff will tank immediately.

beyondelsewhere, 03/12/2018, 7:49 am NST
it says anything can be donated. Wonder if this means they are including all rarities? All those r101 things? No matter the category?

*eyes all the junky junk in her SDB*

doomdesire5, 03/12/2018, 8:06 am NST
Finally, I can get rid of all my Motes! Also, I am also in the bandwagon for hoping we can get rid of our r101 items!

sketch, 03/12/2018, 8:06 am NST
Ooh i wish i knew how many points were needed for a gold trophy! If past years it was awarded for 2000 donations, i wonder how that translates with this system

vaporesque, 03/12/2018, 8:20 am NST
Yep, like many of you, I'm not gonna give much time to this event for just a prize shop. :K So sad for all the collectors.

jadedone23, 03/12/2018, 9:09 am NST
Maybe I can unload all 105 of my blue furry neggs.

sakeru187, 03/12/2018, 9:27 am NST
I just hope the avatar, if given this year too, is better than the last two. I liked the Gift tag avie from the first CC but the others....come on TNT...

echothedonkey, 03/12/2018, 9:27 am NST
I'm really disappointed in this. I have spent so long collecting items to now be rewarded with a point system. So much on this site needs fiddling with... CC was not one of them!

biediep, 03/12/2018, 9:31 am NST
Been looking forward to this for a year and the prize is stupid boons????? Not even items??!!?! I want my stamps, I've been saving SO many items for nothing.. I'm out, not donating a single item. Thanks for ruining it, TNT.

recklesse, 03/12/2018, 9:39 am NST
This suggests that the theme of this year's event will be cleaning up after the destruction caused by the Wraiths.

But the Wraiths are still there, causing destruction!! Shouldn't they be routed first?

jaydeed, 03/12/2018, 9:49 am NST
Gutted and furious. A year hoarding and being poor for nothing. No excitement, no fun items popping up, nothing. Ruined it.

spabl, 03/12/2018, 10:04 am NST
No excitement, no fun items popping up, nothing. Ruined it.--------THIS!!

purplebin, 03/12/2018, 10:09 am NST
Eleven days! Good thing, because it doesn't seem to be starting at the expected time.

ducky - JN Staff, 03/12/2018, 10:17 am NST
Uh. Every hoarder should have known there is a chance hoarding goes wrong. At least Ive been very aware that maybe I have items that cannot be used (like toys were not asked last time).

Yeah I did like the old system and not too excited for prize shop either. What if not I am not disappinted like I've been previous times after getting just loads of dung.

Despite it's fun for us many, there are also lots of people who hate teh whole thing so.

I thnk last one was ok, they should do all the categories so items to be donated would be wider.

And no to r101 k thx bye

lillybilly89, 03/12/2018, 10:24 am NST
the event has not even started yet, and already most of people here and on neo whine and complain. How can you nag about something,
while those are mostly assumptions? And ofcourse tnt cant do nothing well, if you already expect the worst for them.
Be happy they still do something for us, despite of so many negatieve people.

lia_19_85, 03/12/2018, 10:58 am NST
I'm looking forward to it. I didnt like the RNG element of the previous versions. This sounds more fair.

cheyennet2, 03/12/2018, 11:08 am NST
I'm just wondering what the point of this will be except to cause massive inflation on everything. Charity Corner was great because it made it possible for anyone to earn any item on neo. Now it is going to go back to a system of elite Resellers controlling the market and driving up the prices of all of the rare stamps, bd items, and collector items. Also, the excitement of charity corner for me has never been donating but the increased activity on the TP. That's not going to happen with this system.

jaydeed, 03/12/2018, 11:13 am NST
Not assumptions. We read the FAQ.

flowersformachines, 03/12/2018, 11:47 am NST
Well, everyone's assuming the prizes will be disappointing. I'm willing to take my chances.

jawsch, 03/12/2018, 11:48 am NST
Yes assumptions because no one knows what the prize shop has. It specifically mentions boons, which seems to imply non-items. For all we know, it's one that says redeem xxx pts for a random r90-99 item". Bam, CC is the same as last year.

People need to calm down, it's not even active yet.

dolchay, 03/12/2018, 11:52 am NST
I highly doubt they will get rid of the getting rare items thing. This is the one event that helps people get items that are retired etc

pyktheprince, 03/12/2018, 12:04 pm NST
It seems to be up. I was able to donate NP items

spabl, 03/12/2018, 12:08 pm NST
NP part is also up. I donated 5 x a 90 item and got 30 points.

spabl, 03/12/2018, 12:12 pm NST
5 x a 40 item got me 5 points.

drzoidberg, 03/12/2018, 12:13 pm NST
5 x R101 item = 5 points
5 x R86 item = 10 points

spabl, 03/12/2018, 12:17 pm NST
And items don't have to be the same item rarity, you can mix them up

mavegibson, 03/12/2018, 12:21 pm NST
I'm glad they are letting us donate anything we want to donate. I hated the old format. At least now I can actually participate.

pyktheprince, 03/12/2018, 12:28 pm NST
After a few dozen donations it seems:
Rarity 80-89 = 2 points
Rarity 90-97 = 6 points
1-79, 101 = 1 point

I haven't tried other rarities yet

jessalynn, 03/12/2018, 12:33 pm NST
Update: The site is super laggy.

blue_star_51, 03/12/2018, 12:33 pm NST
Rarity 100 gives 8 points for each item.

pyktheprince, 03/12/2018, 12:36 pm NST
It seems you can't donate rarity 180 items. Or at least not the ones I've tried

pikachu315111, 03/12/2018, 12:37 pm NST
r1-79+ = 1 each
r80-89+ = 2 each
r90-98+ = 6 each
r99 = 8 each
r100 = 9 each
r101+ = 1 each

dolchay, 03/12/2018, 12:37 pm NST
Wonder if there will be an avatar...

restoker, 03/12/2018, 12:38 pm NST
Good move

This is supposed to be about charity, helping without expecting treasures in return. The previous years this was simply the opposite, it was all about greediness of the people hoarding to get rich and benefit from everything as they could, at the expense of others... (hoarding all the junk to later sell it like gold).

blue_star_51, 03/12/2018, 12:46 pm NST
r102+ seems to be 4 points (only tried up to r124 though)

jaydeed, 03/12/2018, 1:15 pm NST
The it's about charity thing is ridiculous. Real world yes, but this is Neo. I don't appreciate being lectured by Granny.

josie, 03/12/2018, 1:34 pm NST
I could kick myself now for tossing literally hundreds of fishing hole junk items at the money tree a few months back. I could use them now since the event accepts anything and everything

topaz644, 03/12/2018, 1:45 pm NST
@josie Kick yourself if you want too. In the mean time I will have to spend hours and hours of my real life donating the thousands of fishing junk items I've been saving.

Sounds like you win lol

phenixia, 03/12/2018, 1:52 pm NST
People has created dozen of complaining topics on Neopets board. I'm kind of bored to see that every time something is happening on the site.

1jediboy, 03/12/2018, 2:05 pm NST
Oh for Peep's sake! *gets back on soap box* NO!!!!!

THIS IS A CHARITY!!! THIS IS NOT ABOUT US!!! DO YOU NOT SEE THE DESTRUCTED HOUSES?!?! DO YOU NOT SEE THAT HOMELESS FAMILY OVER THERE?!?! *points to huddled family off to the side* IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE REWARD IS! PRIZE SHOP? ONE ITEM FOR FIVE OF EQUAL RARITY? AVATAR? NEOPOINTS? CODESTONES? IT DOESN'T MATTER! I... I agree, the new method might be a little upsetting, and you might feel shortchanged, but some were upset with the previous system too! Why must we complain?

...It doesn't matter... It's not about us... *turns to look at family* It's about them. Open your hearts and realize... we're better than this.

topaz644, 03/12/2018, 2:05 pm NST
I haven't looked at any of the boards (except my own). If people don't like it they can simply not participate. What's to complain about?

cat, 03/12/2018, 2:08 pm NST
Nice! I like that they're taking r101s now too. I wonder what the prizes will be?

Remember that the pick your own daily gives you 6 r101s per day.

topaz644, 03/12/2018, 2:13 pm NST
Category: Special | Items: 394 | Qty: 2,671

I guess I could cry about having to donate 5 at a time lolz

jessalynn, 03/12/2018, 2:29 pm NST
Items: 460 | Qty: 884

This year's Charity Corner is definitely emptying my SDB.

blu, 03/12/2018, 2:31 pm NST
Well this change seriously blows.

cloonshannagh, 03/12/2018, 3:01 pm NST
I hope obsidian is a good building material. We need to get that poor family back in a good house.

dolchay, 03/12/2018, 3:13 pm NST
I hope tnt comes up with a way to get rare items since you can't get them from charity corner anymore which blows. This was the only way to get impossible items that are hardly if ever on the trading post.

zixianna, 03/12/2018, 3:27 pm NST
Since I've been collecting r99s a little while, I'm kinda glad it's not another r99 giveaway. r99 prices have CRASHED due to previous CCs (that's the only reason I could afford an r99 collection in the first place), but doing the same CC every time would ruin the entire 'restockable' market IMO

dolchay, 03/12/2018, 3:41 pm NST
Zixianna, that's what I'm hoping they will do, maybe switch it up where sometimes you donate and receive stuff and then sometimes have it how it is now

topaz644, 03/12/2018, 4:16 pm NST
It's possible that the prize shop will be stocked with items already available. Stamps, weapons.

Of course if that's the case those things will be worthless in a day and a half...

hamzah_khan, 03/12/2018, 5:03 pm NST
What do you all think would be a good score to aim for for the highest prize? just curious so i have a goal and im not just aimlessly donating haha

morganjoisle, 03/12/2018, 5:16 pm NST
Uggg, I am not really into the whole "prize shop" system. I liked the randomness and chance to win rarity 99s. It really made Tiger Couches affordable. D:

morganjoisle, 03/12/2018, 5:18 pm NST
Wait omg we can donate rarity 101s?!?!??! ... Does this mean I can get rid of daily items?!?!?!?!

... Why does this event have to occur during a major anime convention where I'm not going to have a computer for like 4 days straight? :-/

1jediboy, 03/12/2018, 5:44 pm NST
Just in case anyone feels bad on giving them some junk, here's where some of those "junk items" are going to go towards:

Pile of Dung/any "rotten" food: Fertilizer! Immediate compost to go toward refurbishing their once proud gardens!

Old Rotten Left/Right Boot/Shoe/Sandal: There are local cobblers and cleaners nearby to help fix and clean each shoe.

Piece of Wool: There are cotton gins there.

1jediboy, 03/12/2018, 5:45 pm NST
Oh! Also, Obsidian is an incredibly versatile building material/jewelry stone.

1jediboy, 03/12/2018, 5:59 pm NST
Any and all map pieces are then pooled into full sets and given to an individual family whom has not explored there yet... Unless it's something they can't use... then it's just recycled into wallpaper.

1jediboy, 03/12/2018, 6:02 pm NST
(^you guys might want to spread this around so people don't feel bad giving what they feel is junk.^)

1jediboy, 03/12/2018, 6:06 pm NST
A fellow toy fixing friend of Donny is actually there to fix any broken toys donated. (not for individual donators, though. He's already donating his time, he doesn't want to be bothered.)

flowersformachines, 03/12/2018, 6:11 pm NST
Well, while everyone else is complaining, I'll be earning points from all these items I was going to get rid of anyway. Just wait til we all see what the prizes are. I bet they'll be worth it.

legolego, 03/12/2018, 6:12 pm NST
No more using General Store items--Welcome to the Ever Stocked General Store!

"Well hello there Dearie! Yes, yes my shop is ever stocked. *he sighs*
However, I just can not in good conscience keep profiting from you all while my friend Granny Hopbobbin is working so hard with her Make a Difference Drive She has a big heart and a lot of wisdom... So I'll be be seeing you back soon when I put my goods back on sale after the drive!

Please consider heading over to The Charity Corner and see what our dear friend has to say!"

1jediboy, 03/12/2018, 6:19 pm NST
What a nice man! A true ma' and pa' shop owner, not wanting to take advantage like that! Unlike the bloodsuckers of big business we have today!

1jediboy, 03/12/2018, 7:32 pm NST
Poisonous/Glowing Jelly = Compost... Unless someone voluntarily wants to eat it.

ashtonavocado, 03/12/2018, 7:38 pm NST
...debating on whether or not i should donate all of my items and hope there's something decent in the prize shop or just sell all of my items and get the more expensive stuff i wouldn't be able to buy otherwise and hope there's nothing decent in the prize shop

flowersformachines, 03/12/2018, 9:01 pm NST
I dunno, would you really want to eat vegetables that were fertilized with poison?

Perhaps the poison will be used in weapons manufacturing, so that these poor Neopians will be better equipped if or when they're ever attacked again. A cruel use, but when your homes are being destroyed by evil creatures, I don't suppose you can be too picky about what weapons you use.

1jediboy, 03/12/2018, 9:32 pm NST
Ohh! That's better! That's what's happening!

1jediboy, 03/12/2018, 9:33 pm NST
Poisonous Jelly: Weapon ammo.

cat, 03/12/2018, 9:59 pm NST
Poisonous/Glowing Jelly = Compost... Unless someone voluntarily wants to eat it.
Poisonous Jelly can be made into poison for pest species that would eat crops and attack Neopets and their petpets. Glowing Jelly is a low cost light source.

In addition some petpet species are known to digest poison and love Jelly so Poisonous Jelly is manufactured into low cost food for these species (warning: feeding to any species other than those on the label may cause death and/or vomiting)

So... Going back through past year's avatar requirements:
2014: Complete the "Adopt a Neopian" quest on 8 days during the Charity Corner event.
2015: Donate at least once per day for 7 days.
2017: Make at least 100 donations.
Hopefully this year will be easy for an avatar.

Any guesses as to how many points we should aim for if we want the top prize? I'm making a personal goal of 10k, but idk if that'll be enough - or too much.

cat, 03/13/2018, 12:36 am NST
Don't know, don't even know what the prizes will be. Wouldn't it be sweet if one of the prizes were a trip to the rainbow fountain?

flowersformachines, 03/13/2018, 3:10 am NST
My gut is telling me that's gonna be the case, and I can't say I'd mind taking the easy(er) road to a pastel or steampunk pet.

Personally I really hope the rewards aren't Codestones, FFQs or (useless) boons. If the boons give something really amazing, I'd make an exception to wanting them but if the Obelisk is anything to go by, the boons will stink. Since I'm a hoarder of RPG-esque items, I'd like a prize shop that has battledome items... or stuff that can make a pretty penny - since I miss the old format of CC.

flowersformachines, 03/13/2018, 3:59 am NST
Remember, the Obelisk is a twice-monthly event that doesn't require a whole ton of time or money. CC is once a year and requires a significant effort. The rewards will be balanced accordingly!

...Which is actually why I'm not sure what point total to aim for, since the items being accepted are so different this year. I've gotten almost 4k just by going through my SDB, and I'm not even done looking in there yet. Seems like the good prizes should take more than a few hours of spring cleaning, y'know?

dukula, 03/13/2018, 5:18 am NST
Oh I just realised, the points I posted are per 5 items donated... I'm a derp, ignore me

And yeah that's a good point @flowersformachines, hopefully TNT take that into account too!!!

At the moment I'm just stocking up on cheap stuff to donate still, may as well just in case people raise prices again haha

lunas, 03/13/2018, 5:30 am NST
Can someone please guide me a bit in what is going to be neccesary to donate (how many points you need)? I haven't participated in years and these walkthroughs or guides on this site aren't very illuminating!

dukula, 03/13/2018, 5:40 am NST
@lunas, this format is new so we don't know about how many points are needed. Last CC was more about what rarity you donated in order to get that rarity back, but this CC is about earning points, so we have no frame of reference. I presume a lot of people are going to aim for 5k+ points

lunas, 03/13/2018, 6:11 am NST
@dukula thanks! Maybe that's why I was so lost, I remember the old days. Well at least I can clear out my SDP junk drawer

1jediboy, 03/13/2018, 10:20 am NST
Poisonous Jelly can be made into poison for pest species that would eat crops and attack Neopets and their petpets. Glowing Jelly is a low cost light source.

In addition some petpet species are known to digest poison and love Jelly so Poisonous Jelly is manufactured into low cost food for these species (warning: feeding to any species other than those on the label may cause death and/or vomiting)

@cat - PERFECT!!!

1jediboy, 03/13/2018, 10:32 am NST
Mossy Rock/Packet of Gravel/any potential rock = House building material!
We'll make sturdy stone houses like they did in the olden days of Meridell!

Any tiki tack sand = If not kept as decoration, it is poured out to be recycled, or turned into glass for the windows.

Bit of Barbed Wire = A barbed fence to replace any that were destroyed.

Loose food = New stock ingredients for the Soup Faerie.

If anyone else knows what else they're doing with the things we "see" as "junk" feel free to say what you can report.

flowersformachines, 03/13/2018, 11:08 am NST
Unlabelled Tin Can and Rusty Old Can - The metal is recycled. Food inside the unlabelled cans isn't always good, but the stuff that is, is given to the Soup Faerie.

Bucket of Sludge - Can be used as filler in food for certain petpets that can digest it.

themeepit32, 03/13/2018, 2:38 pm NST
Various Kelp
can be used wound wraps and makes for good roofing

1jediboy, 03/13/2018, 2:48 pm NST
And food. And woven into baskets!

1jediboy, 03/13/2018, 3:01 pm NST
All metal Keychains are melted down and recycled as utensils and other uses. Plastic is also recycled.

1jediboy, 03/13/2018, 7:10 pm NST
@anyone who edits the CC guide - You're probably gonna shoot me a no, but could you please post our "junk usage headcanons" on the guide? It's "historically-accurate!" Had to ask!

parody_ham, 03/14/2018, 5:51 am NST
@1jediboy- Why not write a Neopian Times article? If you want to include images, get the image link in the place where you want it, and the editor will add them in. As long as you're over 1,000 words, you're good. Probably could do a short intro into the perception of donating "junk" items but that they're actually really helpful. Maybe discuss 25 junk items and how they're helping those who lost their homes to wraith invasion... or some such thing.

jessalynn, 03/14/2018, 5:22 pm NST
I hope TNT is aware of THIS lag...

1jediboy, 03/15/2018, 11:34 pm NST
Thank you for that suggestion! I think I WILL write that article.
I always wanted to submit something to the NT but I never got around to it. This would be my first!

@flowersformachines, @cat, & @themeepit32 -
I love all your headcanons! Would you mind if I mentioned those suggestions in my article if I give the credit for who said them? Please let me know.
