IMPORTANT: Altador Cup Sign Ups Glitched

Today (May 29th), it appears that everyone has been removed from their selected Altador Cup team, regardless of who you joined or when you signed up. You can re-sign up, but you will need to do so by June 6th, when signups close.

As part of this, you will be granted a duplicate set of this year's signup prizes (including a fixed version if they were previously wrong). A reminder that general policy unless TNT announce otherwise is to self-delete any extra items granted from glitches by discarding them from your inventory.

They're not going to freeze anyone for keeping the second set of prizes. It wasn't by players choice that they were forced to choose teams over again. I guarantee 99% of people will just keep the prizes.

Profiting off of a glitch is against the rules so don't be surprised when accounts start getting frozen. Keeping the items is one thing, but selling them is another.

They have frozen people in the past for selling off extra sets, but then again this is mostly a new TNT. It's unlikely anyone is going to get iced for the extra 700 NP they might make though.

If you're trying to get rid of the extras, definitely discard and DON'T donate. Donating them keeps them in the economy and can do harm to the value of some of the higher end prizes if there's more than intended floating around.

Well they legally can't ban us for keeping the dupes anyways... If this happened they can just removed them from our accounts anyways ala admin style. For now until there is further announcement I will keep them for now.

If it's against the rules they can freeze you, even if it is an error on their behalf. They have not been clear and rational in the past. It could very well happen again. Just saying.

Already read the rules, terms of service, heck lawyer mode on this one and there is nothing against the rules of a glitch on server side (the tos state that abuse glitches is against the tos but it referred to the client side only rather then the server side which is in a legal fault of TNT). If something happened A formal complain will happened.

No on is forcing you to discard the item if you don't want to.

Can they ban you? Yes. (Will they? Most likely not)
And there is nothing illegal in that ban (I strongly think these fall under "abusing the glitch" Are you going to sue them if they do it?

Also. It is only pixels, why be so furious about it?

There was also was newspost about it despite it was holiday in US.

The ToS very clearly states that they reserve the right to ban your account for absolutely any reason they want at any point.

Keep them if you want, but you do so at your own risk.

Well there is also another problem since neopets is aimed for kids. glitches like this could been oversight on what to do for the younger users like a child would have no better then to keep the extra item since he doesn't know about this.

The cup hasn't even started yet and TNT is already messing things up, I wander if it's possible that this cup will be an even worse fiasco than last years

Realistically depends on what they did to the code. The AC is presumably recycling the same code each year and it's not hard to believe they may just be using the old Round Robin code. I assume this was a one-time issue because it's never happened before. But we have no way to know and there's ALWAYS surprises.

The AC itself generally runs smoothly as far as glitches are concerned. Most issues in the past have been lag and stuff with the prize shop giving infinite points and hiccups like that.

JN Staffers and Dave.... Gliches always abound whether it's the AC or other events that they already have the code written for because theTNT programmers are goof-offs that spend more time picking their noses. The problems of cheating is the main reason this event never ends with a fair outcome. Cheaters use software to submit Game Scores for Games they have not actually played. That's a fact and the issue continues.

@rodgerflint: I wouldn't call it a knowing wink. It's most likely a typo.

Again, keeping prizes is at your own risk. It'd probably be a headache to actually go through and freeze people systematically for doing it--but I wouldn't be surprised if they did so to people who flaunt keeping both.

We had a hiccup with the AC sign-up data and some users will have to sign up again. Go ahead and do so (if you have not already) Please discard any extra prizes and you should be set for this year's AC!

It would be a good idea to update the post to indicate that TNT is on to the whole double prize thing. Gonna go discard now... that scarab is pricey but its not worth my account.

I mistakenly deleted my original prizes so I kept the second set I received. Based on how the prices of many of the prizes have dropped drastically, there's not many who discarded their 2nd set of prizes. TNT should have made given these details up front. And by the way, there's no way for TNT to know whether Members bought their prizes or not. Because of the prized dropping in price, I already bought some extras. For anyone that doesn't already know from personal experience, TNT Staffer Rico is a mealy mouthed MORON. It's obvious that TNT had to reload something for the AC Event behind the scenes and doing so wiped out all the AC Sign-Up data but it may have reduced the site lag. Everyone that signed up previously HAD to sign up again.

On a side note, I wonder if the support staff names are their actual names or just handles they use for a given shift... I've gotten some pretty inconsistent service from what was ostensibly the same person in the past.
