The Final News Post :(

Sadly, we have come to the last post of the year :(....

After a month of heated competition, the Fourth Annual Altador Cup has come to a close. Congratulations to the winners of each bracket: Terror Mountain (13th place), Roo Island (9th place), and Maraqua (5th place).
And the winner of the Altador Cup is.............*drum roll*.............Krawk Island!!!!! Many congratulations to Team Krawk Island! It seems all your hard work this year has paid off. :)

And now, for a recap of the final matches.
They began with the highly unanticipated match between Faerieland and Altador, one of the few even matches either team would encounter this year. After a hard fought fight, a winner was decided. 15th place went to Altador, leaving Faerieland in 16th.
The deciding match of the lowest bracket was between Kiko Lake and Terror Mountain. After two days of battling in the four games of the Cup, 13th place went to Terror Mountain, and 14th to Kiko Lake.

The third bracket's matches began with Virtupets vs. Meridell. Without last place on the line, this match was not a particularly big deal, as the teams were only competing for 11th place. Nevertheless, both teams fought hard and long, and the results were thus: Virtupets in 12th place and Meridell in 11th.
The third bracket was decided in the following match between Roo Island and the Haunted Woods. The scores were close, but in the end 9th place went to Roo Island and 10th to the Haunted Woods. It seems the "previous winner always gets 7th place" curse was broken....

The second bracket's matches began when Darigan Citadel faced off against the Tyrannians. It seemed the Darigan Yooyuballers' skills were too much for the Tyrannians, however. The Tyrannians began the top half of the results in 8th, while the Darigan Citadel team won 7th.
The second bracket was determined in the match between Maraqua and Mystery Island. In the epic battle between the island-dwellers and the sea-dwellers, the Maraquans triumphed, putting them in 5th place and Mystery Island in 6th.

And now for the top bracket...first of all, congratulations to all teams that made it to the top bracket! The battle for the bronze was between the Lost Desert and Kreludor. In the closest battle yet that day, the Yooyuballers from each team ducked and weaved and swerved their hearts out, but in the end, the Lost Desert team knocked the Kreludans off the podium to 4th place while they took home the bronze in 3rd.
And last, but most absolutely not least, was the match for the Cup. This year, Krawk Island and Shenkuu faced off in the Yooyuball match of the year. The teams were evenly matched, making for a heated game in the colosseum full of hundreds of thousands of fans from all over Neopia. Neck and neck the entire game, the two teams fought toward the final few seconds, when the Krawk Island captain seized the yooyu with just a second left to score. In an epic throw, he flung the yooyu halfway across the field into the far corner of the net, capturing the Cup for his team.

Congratulations to the Krawk Islanders for a job very well done this year. See you all at the Fifth Annual Altador Cup next summer!!

Finals Round 1 Results

Confused by the layout of today's standings? I wouldn't blame you ;)
Today we'll be assuming that teams on the left of the standings page are the winners of the matches, and teams on the right are the losers.

So, the main story of today's results is the dramatic upset at the top of the standings. Shenkuu came out of nowhere and managed to defeat Kreludor, the number one seed going into the finals. Krawk Island meanwhile managed to defeat the Lost Desert. This means that Shenkuu and Krawk Island will play for 1st/2nd, while Kreludor and the Lost Desert will play for 3rd/4th.

In the second bracket, it was a similar story. Mystery Island, in 8th place at the beginning of the finals, were able to best the 5th place Darigan Citadel. Elsewhere, Maraqua managed to beat Tyrannia. This means that Mystery Island and Maraqua will play for 5th/6th while the Darigan Citadel and Tyrannia will play for 7th/8th.

In bracket three things went more according to plan. The Haunted Woods were able to beat Virtupets, while Roo Island were able to defeat Meridell. This means that Roo Island and the Haunted Woods will play for 9th/10th, while Virtupets and Meridell will play for 11th/12th.

The final bracket also didnt contain any surprises. Kiko Lake managed to triumph against Faerieland, while Terror Mountain bested Altador. Kiko Lake and Terror Mountain will now play for 13th/14th, while Faerieland and Altador will play for 15th/16th.

...or, who knows? Maybe it's a final between Kreludor and the Lost Desert, and maybe Faerieland beat Kiko Lake? :p

Round Robin Recap (say that five times fast )

As the round robin comes to a close and the teams look towards the finals, we caught up with Chelo Binay, a retired player who helped take the Haunted Woods to victory in the first Altador Cup. We asked her for her take on this year’s teams, and what she thought it meant for the final match ups.

It’s been a year of gentle upsets in the Altador Cup, but some teams have still stayed true to form. Unfortunately, one of those teams is Altador. With an average placing of only 13th, and the second worst Yooyuball record of all time, very few ever suspected Altador to ever rise out of the final bracket. Last year’s placing of 13th seems unlikely at this point, but at very the least I don’t expect them to come dead last.

On a somewhat more optimistic note, the Darigan Citadel has seen a comeback this year that took almost everyone by surprise. Finally proving that the winner’s curse didn’t have to be permanent, they seemed a genuine contender for much of the cup, but were finally pushed out of the top bracket by Shenkuu. Being such a strong team, I wouldn’t put them anywhere less than 5th at this point.

Faerieland, meanwhile, has been the same old team as ever. With 27 days without a single win, and the worst all-time performance record of all the teams, many wouldn’t put them anywhere but dead last. However, in the final few days of the round robin, Faerieland were able to boost their scores in small, but significant ways. If they keep it up, perhaps they can manage to take 15th.

Next, the Haunted Woods, my old team… I’d love to say that this year we’ve made a dramatic comeback, but that just isn’t so. With a somewhat volatile record against teams this year though, the Haunted Woods could prove to be a real wild card in the finals, either jumping up to the top of the bracket, or falling right to the bottom. Hopefully they'll have the power to stay at the top of the third bracket, but who can say?

Meanwhile, this year saw the return of the Kiko Lake team, hoping to cash in on the same returning boost that Kreludor did last year. Sadly, that didn’t happen. Perhaps it was signing the worst goalkeeper in the cup, Erli Quinnock, or perhaps it was rearranging the team absurdly so that former goalkeeper Ditan Colb turned into a defender. Either way, it seemed unlikely that Kiko Lake would rise out of the final bracket. However, they've held their own against the likes of Faerieland, Altador and Terror Mountain in the past, so they could stay at the top of the bracket.

So, we come to this year’s two big contenders, Krawk Island and Kreludor. Krawk Island, the perennial bridesmaid of the finals, and last year’s second place, is an obvious choice as winner for many. However, Kreludor has the stronger record from the round robin. When the two teams have clashed before; Kreludor has come out on top, ever so slightly. Who will win? It could go either way. It’s genuinely going to be one of the most exciting finals we’ve seen so far!

The Lost Desert meanwhile remains a contender for first place. A predicted winner by many before the cup began, the Desert didn't disappoint, and sit comfortably in third as we head into the finals. I’d say it’s doubtful they could be this year’s champions, but stranger things have happened – many of which have happened in this year’s cup!

Speaking of which, this year has seen a boost in Maraqua’s fortunes. Sitting comfortably in 6th at the moment, a whole 3 places ahead of their average, Maraqua has managed some small upsets over a lot of the bigger teams this year, including both Kreludor and Krawk Island. It could be a serious competition between them and Darigan Citadel, if Maraqua plays hard enough they might just be able to take 5th.

Meanwhile, Meridell rests in the third bracket, underperforming compared with the original predictions of many. It seems unlikely that Virtupets will completely beat Meridell, meaning that Roo Island and the Haunted Woods are their main competition. If they have a very good few days, they could conceivably rise to the top of the bracket.

Then we come to Mystery Island, the team has had a hard fought competition with the Haunted Woods for a position in the second bracket. Narrowly gaining 8th place going into the finals, Mystery Island could face difficulties against higher ranking teams. Still, with a little bit of luck and a lot of effort, Mystery Island could claw their way higher in the standings.

Roo Island, the final team in the third bracket, has fallen victim to the winner’s curse this year - with dramatic results at the start of the cup. The fallen champions started to pull back some wins as the round robin progressed, if they boost that performance then they may just be able to take 9th place from the Haunted Woods.

Shenkuu, a team that has quietly been able to take consistent final positions since their debut in the ACII, has been true to form this year. Many expected a boost from the Shenkuu team that would see them take 1st or 2nd, but that hasn’t happened in the round robin so far. It’s not a stretch of the imagination that they could win the cup, but they would certainly have to focus all of their energies on the finals.

Team Terror Mountain retain their normal fourth bracket position as we head into the finals. Despite this, with the introduction of Shootout Showdown, Terror Mountain has managed to improve their game. Will it be enough to beat Kiko Lake? Maybe. The results from the round robin are mixed; it really could go either way.

Tyrannia meanwhile are perhaps one of this year’s major success stories. No matter what the system, no matter what the scores, Tyrannia has held onto 11th place firmly since the beginning of the Altador Cup. This year however sees them rise to 7th place as we go into the finals. Are they out of their league as they tackle teams in the second bracket? With a traditional strength in side games, Tyrannia will need to buck up their Yooyuball game in order to emerge victorious.

Finally, Virtupets. This year’s introduction of Shootout Showdown has really been to the Space Station’s advantage, winning 28 of the 30 matches they have played. The team haven’t stopped there though, winning in other games as well, and now sit at the bottom of the third bracket, only narrowly ahead of Kiko Lake in the fourth bracket. Virtupets might have a challenge against bigger teams than they are used to, but with their performance this year, Virtupets could prove to be a surprising opponent.

Well, there’s my take on the final matches. Good luck to all of the teams!

Day 30 Results

And so the round robin comes to a close, with 30 days of fast-paced action behind us!

Yet despite it being the 11th hour, so to speak, teams are still playing their best to scrape every last point they can. As a result, there were only two sweeps today. One was Krawk Island over the Haunted Woods, and the other was Tyrannia over Faerieland.

Outside of the sweeps, Kreludor faced a minor problem before the finals in the form of the Darigan Citadel. Whilst Kreludor took wins in all three of the side games, the Darigan Citadel took the more heavily weighted Yooyuball win.

Virtupets also came up against difficulties in their match against Altador. There were wins for the Space Station team in Yooyuball, Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, but Altador managed to force the Slushie Slinger match into a draw.

It was an identical story in the Shenkuu/Meridell match, with Shenkuu conceeding a draw in Slushie Slinger to the far smaller Meridell team, while keeping wins in all three of the other games.

It was a different, and more mixed story in the Terror Mountain/Roo Island match. Terror Mountain took the win in Shootout Showdown, their strength so far during this cup, while Roo Island took wins in both Yooyuball and Make Some Noise. The Slushie Slinger match once again ended in a draw.

Maraqua seemed on course for a sweep against their opponents Kiko Lake today, taking wins in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise. However, Kiko Lake managed a last minute rally and took a win in Shootout Showdown, avoiding a full sweep.

Finally, the Lost Desert also faced a small problem today that echoed the Kreludor/Darigan Citadel match. The Lost Desert took wins in all three of the side games, but Mystery Island managed to take a win in Yooyuball to even out the scores.

So that's all of the round robin results! The finals should be kicking off soon, and in quite a few of the brackets anything could happen, so good luck to all!

Day 29 Results

Today is the final day of the Altador Cup IV's preliminary round! We have for you the second to last set of results before the finals!!!

The sweeps today are Darigan Citadel over Terror Mountain and Mystery Island over Kiko Lake.

Three other teams left the day without a single loss: Shenkuu, Kreludor, and Krawk Island. In the Shenkuu vs. Roo Island match, the Shenkuu team dominated the Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown games, while the two teams were evenly matched in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise.

Kreludor played well against Meridell, defeating them soundly in Yooyuball, Make Some Noise, and Shootout Showdown. In Slushie Slinger, however, they could only accomplish a draw against the Meridellians.

The Krawk Island team was victorious against the Maraquans in Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, while the Maraquans kept up enough in Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown to earn themselves a draw.

The Tyrannians had an unusually good day against the Virtupets team. They triumphed in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Make Some Noise, while the Virtupets team was unstoppable in Shootout Showdown.

The Lost Desert team also won three of the four games yesterday. They defeated the Haunted Woods in Yooyuball, Make Some Noise, and Shootout Showdown, while the Haunted Woods team retaliated with a win in Slushie Slinger.

The final match of the day consisted of Faerieland vs. Altador. The Altador team defeated the Faeries in Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, while the Faerieland team had the superior Yooyuballers. The Shootout Showdown game ended in a draw.

One day more! Can you believe it? Play hard, and good luck to all teams in this final day of preliminary competition! We shall see tomorrow who makes which bracket of the finals.

Day 28 results

Welcome to the results for day 28 of the cup! Only 2 days of the round robin left now, teams are beginning to settle in their final brackets - but that doesn't mean there are no more surprises...

Speaking of which, today's main story is the Kiko Lake/Faerieland match. After 28 days, the team from Faerieland had only one draw, and no wins. Today however, they managed to take the Yooyuball win from Kiko Lake. It might be a little early to celebrate however, as Kiko Lake were able to take wins in all three of the side games.

The sweeps next, and there were quite a few today. The Darigan Citadel won over the Haunted Woods, Kreludor over Terror Mountain, Shenkuu over Altador, and perhaps most surprisingly, the Lost Desert completely beat Virtupets. That's hardly unexpected as far as Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise are concerned, but once again we've seen a blip in the Space Station's near flawless Shootout Showdown record.

Outside of the sweeps, it was still a day of upsets. Krawk Island came up against a stronger than expected Tyrannian team. Krawk Island managed a win in Yooyuball, but Tyrannia took wins in all three of the side games.

Meanwhile, Mystery Island met Meridell in a seemingly even match. Mystery Island took wins in Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown, while Meridell took the Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise matches as their own.

Finally, Maraqua managed an overall win against Roo Island. They took wins in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Shootout Showdown. Roo Island were however able to take a win in Make Some Noise.

There's the results! Remember to head over to our Predicted Scores & Standings page again, we calculate that there are now only 5 teams with a shot at the top bracket. With only 4 spaces available in the bracket, 1 team must go. Who will it be? We'll find out soon enough!

Day 27 Results

Day 27's results are here!

The sweeps: Maraqua over Faerieland, Shenkuu over Kiko Lake, and Darigan Citadel over Altador.

Random fact of the day: Every single other match ended with one team winning all but one game. The Tyrannians ended the day rather well, being the only non-sweeping team to concede no losses. They successfully defeated Mystery Island in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Make Some Noise. The only draw occurred in Shootout Showdown.

In the Kreludor vs. Lost Desert match, the Kreludans dominated the side games, Slushie Slinger, Make Some Noise, and Shootout Showdown, while the Lost Desert yooyuballers were unstoppable on the field.

The next two matches had identical results. The Haunted Woods defeated the Virtupets team in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Make Some Noise, while the Virtupets team was unstoppable in Shootout Showdown. In the following match, Krawk Island played the part of the Haunted Woods, winning the first three games, while their opponents, Terror Mountain, came back with a win in Shootout Showdown.

Roo Island ended the day on top, winning Yooyuball, Make Some Noise, and Shootout Showdown. The Meridell team was able to stay ahead only in the Slushie Slinger match.

Ladies and gentlemen, can you believe we have only three days left? Play hard, and good luck!

Welcome to the results for day 26 of the round robin!

It's the moment many thought would never come today, Virtupets has finally conceeded a loss in Shootout Showdown, to Kiko Lake of all teams. After a streak of 25 wins in the new game, have the Virtupets team finally started to flag? The Kiko Lake team also took a win from Virtupets in Slushie Slinger, though the two teams settled for draws in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise.

In the other matches today there were two sweeps against the usual suspects. Terror Mountain swept Altador, while Krawk Island swept Faerieland.

Meanwhile Shenkuu managed a surprising victory against Kreludor in Yooyuball. Kreludor managed to even out the standings though by taking wins in all three of the side games.

Similarly, Maraqua continued on their way to a late comeback, by managing Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger wins against Darigan Citadel. The Citadel meanwhile took Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown as their own.

Elsewhere, Mystery Island took narrow victories over Roo Island in Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown, while the two teams drew in Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise.

In the Lost Desert/Tyrannia match, the Desert took wins in Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown. Tyrannia took a win in their speciality, Slushie Slinger, and the Make Some Noise match ended in a draw.

Finally, there was a mixed set of results from the Haunted Woods/Meridell games. Meridell took wins in both Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, while the Haunted Woods took wins in Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown.

Remember to check out our Predicted Scores & Standings page.
Day 25 Results

We come to you today with the results of day 25 of the preliminary round of the Fourth Annual Altador Cup. Ladies and gentlemen, we have five days left of the round robin. Wow.

As always, we begin with our sweeps. Today only the usuals showed up in the sweeps yesterday. Roo Island was Faerieland's conqueror today, and the Lost Desert did in the Altador team.

As for everyone else, it seems Team Shenkuu and Team Krawk Island are back on form today. Team Shenkuu suffered no losses to Mystery Island, triumphing in all three side games and conceding only a draw in Yooyuball. Team Krawk Island also defeated their opponents, Team Kiko Lake, in all but one game. Their only loss was in Shootout Showdown.

The Kreludans also did well yesterday. Mirroring the Shenkuu team, they defeated the Maraquans in Slushie Slinger, Make Some Noise, and Shootout Showdown. The Maraquans, however, rallied with a win in Yooyuball.

The Meridell vs. Virtupets match was very even. The teams drew in two events, Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise. The Virtupets team pulled ahead in the Shootout Showdown match, while the Meridellians had the edge in Yooyuball.

The Haunted Woods team had yesterday's characteristic varied results. They were able to defeat the Terror Mountain team in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, while Terror Mountain was victorious in Shootout Showdown. In Slushie Slinger, the teams ended up tied.

For a little bit of irony, a recent news report from Neopia quoted Darigan Citadel team captain Layton Vickles thus: "It's been totally different this time around, as if we're re-learning how to have fun playing all over again. After winning in Year 9, there was just this incredible amount of pressure to come back and repeat, and that tension really worked against us." Yesterday, the Darigan team was only able to scrape out a single win against the Tyrannians in Yooyuball, while the Tyrannians triumphed in all three side games.

Well, that's all for today. Looks like the top few teams are fairly defined, while Faerieland and Altador will by vying in the finals for...not last. Don't get too comfortable, though. Things can change if teams are not consistent to the end. Good luck to everyone as we come flying down the home stretch of the preliminary round!

Day 24 Results

Welcome to the results from day 24 for the round robin!

Perhaps the most surprising and interesting result today was one of the sweeps. The Haunted Woods swept Faerieland, and Meridell swept Altador, but both of those outcomes are hardly shocking. However, Kreludor managed a full sweep over fellow front running team, Krawk Island. In the previous round, the results had tipped in favour of the Krawk Island team. Perhaps this is a sign that Krawk Island is once again faltering just before the final round?

Outside of the sweeps there was also another shock in the Roo Island/Darigan Citadel game. The Citadel, which looked unbeatable in Yooyuball in the first few weeks of the cup, have stalled recently, and Roo Island was able to use this to their advance to claim a draw in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise. The Citadel kept their focus though, and took wins in Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown.

Kiko Lake showed that they have improved in the second round during their match against Terror Mountain. The Lakers took wins in both Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, and a draw in Yooyuball. Terror Mountain meanwhile took the win in Slushie Slinger.

It was all just a little bit of history repeating in the Maraqua/Tyrannia match, as it produced the exact same results as the first round. Maraqua took the Yooyuball win, while Tyrannia took wins in all three of the side games.

Meanwhile in the Mystery Island/Virtupets match there were mixed results. Mystery Island took a win in Yooyuball, while Virtupets took wins in Slushie Slinger and (no surprise) Shootout Showdown. The Make Some Noise match ended in a draw.

In today's final match up, the Lost Desert clashed with Shenkuu. Once again, it was the team from the Lost Desert that came out on top, with wins in both Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown. In a similar fashion to the first round, Shenkuu managed to force the Lost Desert into conceeding two draws, in both Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise.

That's all the results for today, make sure to check out our Predicted Scores & Standings page while you're here. As you can see, there's now five teams that we calculate as being unable to win the cup this year given their current scores. Keep checking back in the following days as that list grows!

Day 23 Results

Day 23 is here, and already we're over halfway through the second round robin!

As always, we begin with the sweeps. Today's batch, unsurprisingly, includes Faerieland and Altador, this time losing entirely to Mystery Island and Roo Island. Joining those regulars in this list is Team Terror Mountain, who couldn't catch a break against the Lost Desert team yesterday.

As for everyone else, Kreludor remains a consistent competitor, leaving the day without a loss against Kiko Lake. The Kreludans soundly defeated Team Kiko Lake in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Shootout Showdown, while Kiko Lake held on enough in the Make Some Noise battle to cause a draw.

The Tyrannia vs. Haunted Woods game was similar. The Tyrannians took the victory in all three of the side games, while the Haunted Woods yooyuballers were unstoppable in the main match and took the victory there.

Maraqua and Virtupets were fairly evenly matched yesterday. The Maraquans were victorious in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, while the Virtupets team drilled their way to a win in Shootout Showdown. The Slushie Slinging match was too fast and furious for the judges to find a clear winner, so they called a draw.

In the rivalry match of Meridell vs. Darigan Citadel, the victories were split. Of course, the even match-up provided a very interesting day of competition, with fans flooding the stadiums from both lands. In the end, the Meridellians took Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, while the Darigans took Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown.

Finally, in a rare loss of form, Team Shenkuu lost to the Krawk Islanders in Slushie

Slinger and Make Some Noise. In Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown they were unable to produce more than a tie-game. Have they already passed their peak this season? This could be very interesting with the finals coming up in a week and a half or so.

Well, there are your results for Day 23 of the Fourth Annual Altador Cup. Keep playing hard because we are coming up on the last few days of the preliminary round, and you want to ensure that your team makes it into the highest finals bracket it possibly can! Good luck everyone!

Day 22 Results

The results from day 22 are in, and it's another day of upsets!

Only two sweeps to report on today, and one was of course against Faerieland. This time, it was Virtupets who took the win in all the games yet again. Similarly, Tyrannia scored a full sweep over Altador as they did in the first round.

It was however outside the sweeps that things started to get a little interesting. Yooyuball frontrunner Darigan Citadel came up against the Shenkuu team, which has given a rather lacklustre performance so far this year. This time however, the Shenkuu team fought back with force, and took wins from the Citadel in Yooyuball, Make Some Noise, and Shootout Showdown. The Darigan team was able to claw back a draw in Slushie Slinger, but only barely.

Kreludor also faced minor problems with Team Roo Island today. Kreludor took wins in all three of the side games, but the Roo Island team managed to force a draw in Yooyuball, regaining some of their pride.

The third major contender, Krawk Island, also faced an upset in the form of Mystery Island. In a similar story to the Kreludor/Roo Island match, Krawk Island took wins in all three side games. However, Mystery Island was able to take a win over the pirates in Yooyuball.

Outside of the top few teams, the Haunted Woods faced Kiko Lake. It was the Haunted Woods that took wins in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise. Kiko Lake managed to avoid the sweep they suffered in the first round though, and took the win in Shootout Showdown.

Meanwhile, Meridell faced Terror Mountain, with mixed results. Meridell took wins in all three side games, including Shootout Showdown, Terror Mountain's strong point. However, the Terror Mountain team managed to force the Yooyuball game into a draw.

Last, but by no means least, Maraqua faced off against the Lost Desert. This was by far the most mixed bag of results from the day. There were draws between the two teams in both Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown, and while Maraqua took the Slushie Slinger win, Lost Desert took the win for Make Some Noise.

So, that's another day's results over with, and we draw ever closer to the final round. Make sure to check back tomorrow as we head into the final week!

Welcome to the results from Day 21!

First, of course, the sweeps.

The results for day 20 are in, and the effects of the second round are starting to show, as there are quite a few differences from the first round results.

Only two sweeps occured today. Maraqua managed to beat Altador completely, and Terror Mountain managed to win over Faerieland.

The only match today that was exactly replicated from the first round was the one between Meridell and Kiko Lake. Once again, Meridell managed wins in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, while Kiko Lake won in Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown.

We saw another closely matched fight between the Krawk Island and Darigan Citadel teams today. There were draws in Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown, but Krawk Island had the edge and managed to take wins in Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise.

Kreludor, the other team at the top of the board, came up against the small but surprising Virtupets squad. Kreludor took Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, but Virtupets stayed true to form and took wins in both Shootout Showdown and Make Some Noise.

The Lost Desert managed a string of wins against Roo Island, taking Slushie Slinger, Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown. In the previous round, the Lost Desert managed a clean sweep against former champions Roo Island, so it came as a shock when the Roo Island squad was able to force a draw in Yooyuball.

Two teams that seemed evenly matched in the first round also clashed today, the Haunted Woods and Mystery Island. This time, Mystery Island took a win in Yooyuball, but the Haunted Woods were able to rally with wins in all of the side games.

Finally, in the Shenkuu/Tyrannia match, the mountain ninjas proved to be the stronger team. They took wins in Yooyuball, Make Some Noise, Shootout Showdown. Tyrannia was able to take one single win from Shenkuu, and it was no surprise that it was in the prehistoric team's speciality, Slushie Slinger.

As usual, we saw Faerieland and Altador fall victim to a sweep, this time to Darigan Citadel and Krawk Island. Also with sweeping victories were the Lost Desert over Kiko Lake, Kreludor over Mystery Island, and Shenkuu over the Haunted Woods.

As for the other three matches, Tyrannia made it through the day without a single loss against Meridell.
Day 18 Results

Day 18 of the Altador Cup has come to a close, here are the results.

A fair number of sweeps today, though they are hardly surprising ones. Lost Desert claimed a complete victory over Faerieland, Kreludor over Altador, and finally Tyrannia over Kiko Lake.

Outside of the sweeps it was another day of small upsets for many teams. In their second match up against Virtupets, Krawk Island was able to take the win in both Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, but Virtupets took Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, retaining their perfect record in the new side game. It seems like no team is going to be able to take a win from Virtupets in it. Interestingly, this is the exact same outcome that happened in the first round robin.

It was also a repeat of the first round in the Shenkuu/Terror Mountain game. Once again, Shenkuu won in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Make Some Noise, but Terror Mountain forced a draw in Shootout Showdown.

There were however some differences in the Meridell/Maraqua game. Maraqua was able to take three wins, in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Shootout Showdown. Meridell however managed to steal the Make Some Noise win from their aquatic opponents.

The Darigan Citadel were deprived a full sweep by Mystery Island. Whilst the Citadel took the wins in all of the side games, Mystery Island took the win in Yooyuball to even out the scores.

Finally, in the Haunted Woods/Roo Island game, there were almost draws across the board. The only game in which there wasn't a draw was Slushie Slinger, in which Roo Island took the win. Perhaps this marks the beginning of a comeback for the Roo Island team? Or a fall for the Haunted Woods team?

There's only one way to find out, come back tomorrow for more results!
