Wardrobe Wars: Usuki & Quiguki Dolls
  • Posted by Rylon

TROPHY UPDATE: We've made a few changes behind the scenes, and the Wardrobe Wars trophy has been awarded to all winners prior to round 30 (when it was introduced). Additionally, the trophies now stack! If you've won multiple times, you'll now see a x2 (or equivalent) over the trophy in your cabinet. Congrats to all new trophy awardees, and check out the stacked trophy in action at RoshChodesh's trophy cabinet, who has the highest number of wins so far!

Wardrobe Wars is back - and better than ever! If you're not familiar, Wardrobe Wars is a monthly themed customization contest, with the winners receiving a trophy and being featured in the Wardrobe Hub!

What do I need to do?
  • Register for a jnAccount on our main site.
  • Head on over to our Wardrobe App, and start customising a pet to the theme!
  • When finished, save the outfit, using the appropriately-named "Save Outfit" button and copy the link for the next step. (And rename your outfit to match the theme.)
  • Visit the Wardrobe Wars entry submission form and fill out the three required fields. (via Google forms)

Submissions will be open until the 17th at 11:59PM NST, after which the entries will be reviewed, and those selected will be uploaded to our carousel on the 20th! Winners also receive the shiny trophy at the top of this post. You may submit as many outfits as you'd like.

This month's theme is titled Usuki & Quiguki Dolls! It's con time! Come up with your best Usuki/Quiguki doll or playset-inspired customisation. Your entry must be either an Usul or Quiggle (painted Usuki or Quiguki if feasible), and ideally inspired by a current item (be sure to let us know which in the name of your outfit!).

We're also taking suggestions of themes for future rounds of Wardrobe Wars, so please submit any ideas you may have alongside your entry.

If you happen to come across an item that should be in Wardrobe but doesn't appear, please submit a bug report so we can look into it.

Best of luck!

I noticed the trophy update a couple of days ago, thank you for doing that. I'm glad people with multiple WW wins now have a way to show it off I'm also seriously impressed that roshchodesh has 25 wins!

Thanks for making the trophies stack, I`ve won 12 times! Super happy with that

Oh awesome! I was hoping stacking would happen one day. It's nice to see how much you've won

Thank you, yasmin_sb

Thank you so much jellyneo for the Wardrobe Wars update! I am thrilled with the surprise of my trophy and shout out!
Wardrobe Wars is my favourite - I love pondering the topic with the full array of pets/paints and closet to cook up entries. I love seeing the winning entries every month just as much; all of them so thoughtful and creative!

Thank you so much for putting in the amount of wins! It's a little hard to read size and color wise (yes, glasses and the dark don't help), but i can deal with it. My trophy cabinet is RI if that helps for feedback on color wise.

Congrats Roshchodesh. I agree, it is fun to think of how to customize with all the items available. My best entries (i.e. winning ones) come when a phrase, song lyric, book title pops into my head and I customize to that. Impressive how consistently good your customizations are!
Thanks JN for adding this feature.

thank you so much, mistyraider
It's funny, I do the same thing you do with themes for the theme and usually use it in some way in the title (I love to read every title, too, especially in case I miss the reference).

I won't be entering this one anyway since I'm only really interested in ones where I can use a bird species (I'm predictable), but I have a question for people that do a lot of these: how do you not get discouraged sometimes (or get through that feeling) when you spend a really long time on one you're really proud of and it doesn't win, so no one ever sees it?

I've only done a couple, but the last one I did I was super proud of, and it was such a bummer to me that only the judge(s) and I ever saw it. I was worried it would be kind of disrespectful to the people that did win to post it in the comments though, or sound like I thought mine was better/should've won (it wasn't, I just liked it).
roshchodesh, August 14, 2020 10:37 AM NST
@ jaudaran
I think something along those lines every month, too. The topics/themes are so cool that I want to see everyone's entry
Speaking for myself, I would love to see the post of any entry anyone wanted to share as long as that's alright with jn (and doesn't open a door for negative comments), or a link to the bunch that didn't make the top 12 or so.

@roshchodesh

Glad to know I'm not the only one! I suppose the other option would be to maybe share our non-winning entries in the comments of the next round's opening post, like this one. It does make more sense to post them on the regular results post though, as long as it doesn't bother anyone.

(The outfit I was talking about was the better of my two entries for the Woodland theme, in case you're curious! It takes a while to load, lol.

Well done to one awesome, creative user who truly EARNED that "25x" symbol!

Congratulations, Roshchodesh!
1jediboy, August 16, 2020 12:58 PM NST
@jaudara - I thought that too. People might be upset or feel less special or something.

*looks at your outfit link* Ohhhh! *gasp!* That's beautiful! Truly worthy of the trophy!!!
roshchodesh, August 17, 2020 9:29 AM NST
Oh dear. How much more special can you feel in WW than getting a trophy and being on the wardrobe hub? I would hope none of the winners would consider it a slight that other entries could be viewed. To me, the fun of it (besides making my own), is seeing everyone's creativity.
jaudaran, August 17, 2020 4:22 PM NST
@1jediboy Aw, thank you!! I wish I could actually make it as an outfit on the site, but I can't afford to really get into NC stuff, unfortunately. That's part of what makes coming up with things for this contest more fun, though--no price/availability restrictions!

@roshchodesh I agree, getting to see other people's entries is so fun! I also wish there was a way to like, click on someone's trophy to see which entries they won for...I imagine that would be hard to code though, and might be impossible to do retroactively.
