JR

JR

[dʒɛɪaː] - verb

To make a regular Neopets account into an account suitable for a player under the age of thirteen -- that is, to remove the ability to Neomail, edit pages, and post on the Neoboards. The Neopets Team will do this if they have reason to believe a player is under thirteen and lied about their age when signing up.

MER

MER

[] - noun

MER (or Maxter) is short for Maximum Total Expected Return. It's a set of Food Club bets with the highest TER for a given set of pirates and their profitability. Generally, betting Maxter sets in the long run should yield close to a Return on Investment of 2 (doubling your amount bet). For any particular round that is still in progress, the Maxter value may change depending on changes in pirate odds.

Example Usage:

"MER is a popular Food Club betting strategy with sets conveniently calculated by a computer."

Mirror Game

Mirror Game

['mɪɹə gɛɪm] - noun

A copy of one of the Neopets games, specially made to be displayed on another site. Some mirror games have the ability to send scores back to the Neopets site, but using this to send six scores per day for the same game is against the rules.

TER

TER

[] - noun

TER is short for Total Expected Return (or Ratio), a probability-weighted average of possible outcomes on a set of Food Club bets (generally a set contains 10 bets, but can be any number of bets). The TER value is a quick way to gauge an estimated average expected number of units you can win for a set of bets, but it does not mean a particular set will actually win. Generally, betting sets with higher TER in the long run should yield more profit on average. The possible TER value ranges will differ each round based on pirate odds and combinations available.

Example Usage:

"A set of ten bets with TER of 11 is barely profitable."
