Adventures of Jake: Remastered + 2006 Advent Animations
  • Posted by Dave

In case you've missed the news, Flash is going away, and here at Jellyneo we are trying to curate and convert as much old Neopian Flash content as we can into modern viewing formats so it isn't lost to the ages.

Continuing onward in our quest to preserve old Flash-based Neopets storylines, we are excited to announce the next event series that we've remastered: The Adventures of Jake!

Join Jake as he treks through the jungles of Mystery Island in search of a stolen mystical tiki idol. As you'd expect, Jake finds himself in a bit of trouble... read on to find out how it ends for him!

This comic book was a one off tie in with the real life Islandberry Crunch cereal that Neopets released many years ago. Unfortunately, Jake never had more any additional adventures shared.

Year 2006 Advent Animations Preserved
And that's not all! The next item to get the conversion treatment is the 2006 Advent Calendar Animations! We started with preserving the year 2000 animations last year, and we're slowly adding additional years to the collection.

These Advent animations have all been converted into a modern movie format that will play on both your desktop and mobile devices for many years to come.

2006's animations also include a special 🌴 July ☀️ rendition of the Advent Calendar!

Check back in next week as we prepare the next addition to our collection!

This is so great that you are doing this! Thank you thank you thank you!

Here's what's on our list of Flash content to preserve:

* Remaining Flash Advent animations through 2016 (2017 onward is non-Flash)
* NeoQuest I and II soundtracks/cutscenes
* Search for the Crown
* Ski Lodge Murder Mystery
* Lost Desert Plot
* Journey to the Lost Isle
* Operation Petpet Park
* Return of Dr. Sloth
* Atlas of the Ancients
* The Faeries' Ruin
* Defenders of Neopia Series 2 comics
* Flash-based Neogreetings
* Flash game preloader animations

What else would you all like to see? The list above will probably keep us busy for the next few months.

Thank you for this work JN team

I forgot about the special July edition of the Advent Calendar! That was such a fun and special little bonus. I wish TNT would do more neat little unexpected things like that these days.

You guys are beyond amazing !
It's astonishing how much you've done in a few months about content conversion, compared to how little has been done on Neopets in years.
Thank you also for adding the game preloader animations on your to-do list. I enjoy watching them but I thought they'd be gone forever since this type of content is always overlooked..

Is it possible to convert an interactive version of two Petpet related games:
Catch the Petpet : http://www.neopets.com/games/game.phtml?game_id=1034
and Petpet Pair Up: http://www.neopets.com/games/game.phtml?game_id=1031 ?

Since Petpet Park was discarded six years ago, they'll probably won't be carried over.

Wonderful! Thank you, all of you, for doing all of this. Your dedication is remarkable

I've always been fond of the animated Lunar Temple map. Any chance you could save that?
melinda_kacheek, November 13, 2020 5:58 PM NST
Key Quest Vault please!
jessalynn, November 13, 2020 6:28 PM NST
Neoquest II animated scenes, please!
dave - JN Staff, November 14, 2020 10:56 AM NST
@topaz644: We're expecting TNT to convert the Lunar Temple Map themselves, since it's an active feature. We're mainly trying to focus on old content (like comic books) and content we believe might not be converted (Neogreetings--it's such a little used feature) or would be at the bottom of their list (NeoQuest II cutscenes--they're not essential to game play).

@melinda_kacheek: Was that Flash-based? 🤔 I thought it was just a plain page?

I commend you on your amazing progress! Thank you for all that you do!

"What other Flash content would you like to see preserved?"

I can think of two, but I don't think it'll go on your list.

1. The Game Graveyard.
2. The animated NT comics. (if they are flash.)
sandy_puppy, November 14, 2020 2:29 PM NST
I'd love to see The Faerie's Ruin plot as the next plot comic preserved next. =)
dave - JN Staff, November 14, 2020 7:27 PM NST
@sandy_puppy: That'll probably be saved for our grand finale!

@1jediboy: Games just aren't something we're really keen on converting. It'd require far more development resources than we have available. :\ I'm also not able to find any Flash-based NT comics--maybe they don't need saving!
1jediboy, November 14, 2020 7:51 PM NST
(I couldn't think of a better grand finale! )

Are any of the animations from Neo_Tomi considered flash?

That was such a classic staple of the times in it's early weeks!

There were also a few loose animated comics here and there, but this is the only one I know that made frequent animations.
